The 30+ minutes stat looks like a causation stat. That BECAUSE Reed is playing well in the game early, he's kept in longer Still encouraging that he can handle extended minutes with solid play though
Our fred'chise player last year VanVleet started every game. Averages: .378 FG, .345 on 8 three attempts/gm. 14 PPG, 5.5 assists. Simply put, Udoka is the LAST one to be complaining on that Reed statline lol
Yeah Ime doesn’t care about offense but I want him to start working toward that 50 40 90 that’s my goal for Reed at least one season in the NBA - not likely but I feel like it might be possible
At this point I'm not sure what more proof Ime needs to start Reed. Hell an 8-2 record should be the most blatant sign that our boy needs to eat in the starting lineup. San Antonio's next. Unleash Reed against Castle.
Given his high IQ in play making, Definitely reed is môre appropriate to handle the PG duty of the teams and amen athleticism as a hustler, Slasher, cutter ,dunker spot can be Môre optimized. Playmaking reed makes everyone else play smoother, better, with easier shots and môre efficient effectiveness. IME seems to get blogged down, scared, trapped in his concerns and own thoughts on reed's defense deficiency while the facts say they are overblown.
I’m all for starting Reed the rest of the year, but if they actually square off against each other, Castle will eat his lunch. Castle may not be better than Reed in the long haul, but right now what Castle does best is what Reed does worst. Castle will attack the paint relentlessly and Sengun is no rim protector. On the other side of the ball, Castle will crowd Reed as soon as he crosses the half court line. I do not anticipate that Shep is going to start against the Spurs. I wouldn’t be surprised that if Jabari is back, Okogie gets the start and Tari returns to the bench. His body language has been horrible lately. It is possible that Tari is going through a bout of depression which is effecting his game.
Maybe more importantly in the win tonight, other than Reed being left in for most of the 4th Q, was the Alpi was left out. I love Alpi and hope he can figure out how to check his ego at the door and make room for Reed. On a loosely related note. There's something about Reed's character that I think is quietly subversive to most NBA players. He's conspicuously lacking in obvious ego AND he's fiercely competitive. It's the friend who shows up at the court, or at work, saying he's a casual but is really the most try hard guy there. And when you combine with this a clear ability to whip a$$, it can be unnerving. The worst thing you can do is mistake his meekness for weakness. The best you can do is learn how to get him on your side. I hope Alpi can get on board because it seems like KD and Amen already have. At least from where I sit. Which is on my couch with a scotch.
this is nonsense. Alpi is starting to look for Reed at the 3 point line and they play the PnR really well. It all comes down to Sheppard hitting his 3’s and playing adequate defense to become an integral part of this team. None of his teammates are freezing him out, because they are intimidated. LOL.
i tell ya... Reed is impressing with his ability to get to and finish at the rim... i think he may actually develop into a good pg - and not just a spot up shooter.... early in the year he was taking all these high off the glass circus shots - which was concerning... but he seems to be getting better at carving out room to get an easy layup... Dude just needs to cut back on the ill-advised passes (dont bounce pass to CC in the lane), not gamble so much on d and learn to take a charge... If he could do those things, then he could be special imo... His confidence has been rather roller coaster, but he seems to be in a far better place now than he had been previously, so hopefully that will solidify with time...
Tari's hot shooting has cooled and with that his confidence. I also noticed his leg still bothering him from time to time in games. Unfortunately, he may always have this cloud over his career. Castle is a defensive stud, but since their last meeting Reed has been building his confidence with a series of solid performances, impacting the game with more than just his outside shooting. I look for Reed to have a great game on Sunday, but you may be right and Castle shuts him down. We'll see tomorrow. I'm still advocating for this starting lineup--Reed, Josh, Amen, KD and Alpi. That allows him to bring Jabari, Tari, and Capela off the bench depending on what the situation calls for. Make it so Ime!
I predict someone will post on Twitter the most blocks per game for players under 6'3, something obscure like that.
I'd start either Jabari or Tari instead of Okogie. We need a guy who can defend bigger front court players. Durant is not reliable on defense and Sengun is limited. Amen can be that guy. But Amen is needed more on the faster guards of the opponents. Okogie is the perfect sub when Amen sits.
