The problem with Sengun is his ego gets out of check and he gets selfish leading to foolishly wasted possessions. Pre-Islam Hakeem had that problem a bit.... only Hakeem was 20 times the player Sengun is.

He's going to have to figure out that he's not the main character or his time here will be brief.

Sengun just sucks. The post up shot is one of the most inefficient shots and that’s literally his go to move.

It’s 2026 and he’s playing like he’s in the 90’s. Get rid of him. They should’ve traded him for Giannis when they had the chance.

It's coaching, I don't know why this is hard to see.

Sengun's performance is hurt because he doesn't get the ball in the post and so he has to exert a lot of extra energy and dribble into doubl teams. Much of this is on Ime and Stone not getting a PG. (This is similar to KD turning the ball over a ton because there's no PG.)

Sengun deserves some blame for wanting to score and ignoring the offense. But most of that is because we don't have an offense and don't give him the ball where he can be successful.

Coach, GM--it's the same reason why Reed isn't better, Amen isn't better, Jabari isn't better, etc. (and Tillman sucks, obviously)

I can't decide if it's Reed's or Alpi's numbers that are more impressive

He was ass in the ASG too to be fair, I remember him being sketchy before that too. If he's injured he needs to sit, if he's not he needs to get his head back on straight, it's embarrassing. That ****ing thing saying he tries to twerk his way into the post is actually right and that's embarrassing.

I honestly think it was a huge mistake letting him play Euroleague this past summer. Not only did he tire himself out for the season, he spent none of the summer developing his game. And it's clearly showing

If you lowered the minutes marker to include Clint I think he'd be near the top. Clint averaged over 20 mpg last season, if Sengun is playing this bad theres not reason not to lower his minutes and get Clint more run. It seems very obvious to anyone watching, Clint and Okogie should be playing way more right now.

Sengun lead the team in on off splits last season

This situation isn't like Jalen who's always been a bum. Something is seriously bothering Sengun, mentally and or physically. Why would a 23 year old player make such a hard regression? It's weird.

Tell me: what should get way worse if the paint is extremely packed?

Yes. He's playing poorly. Have to remind ourselves, myself included, Jabari, Tari, Amen, Sengun, Reed are all still young. Inconsistency is the norm. We just don't have movement or shooters. Alpi turns in to a one trick pony without that. If Barkley never played, they would have made that 5 second back down rule for Alpi.

    Need to be coached harder

Didn't his performance dive when he stated something that pissed off a good number of his countryfolk?

    (perhaps mental coaching)

You are making excuses. Sengun started struggling with his bunnies last year and has not improved this year. He is a center and blew numerous 2-3 ft shots last night and many nights since a hot start. His touch has gone to sh*t. It might be a confidence thing combined with an Ime issue, but Sengun has definitely regressed as a shooter the last 2 years. I wouldn’t trade him to open up the offense unless the return was really high, but let’s not put on blinders about his performance. I think the roster needs to be tweaked and maybe over-hauled, but I don’t see much point as long as Ime is coach and Durant is still here. Maybe if we fall to the play-in (very possible), the FO will bite the bullet.

He's my favorite player but his touch has been awful for weeks now. So many hooks just clank off the ring. And he has to remove the hooks and floaters from ft range or further from his shot diets. Those shots are just lazy and the physics are completely off. If he can't get his man all the way into the paint just pass it out.

Sengun aint Jokic. His game is too herky jerky and you just know he's probably going to miss when he throws them up. Its like 75% chance it will be a miss. KD's body language sucks. The dude looks miserable like its everyone else fault that they suck. He looks like he hates everyone except Reed. NOBODY on this roster is a reliable score except KD and sometimes Reed. There are no shooters here. Just defensive minded players that aint that great at defense except sometimes Okogie, Tari and Amen. Bari is a bust for where he got drafted.
But the BIGGEST problem with this team, is Udoka. He's to stubborn with his defensive mindedness. The dude would rather have offensive liabilities out on the court anytime of the day. He doesnt encourage players but instead scolds them and takes them out after ANY little mistake and then scolds them again through the media. This isn't the 90's, players today are not the same. And his coaching sucks. I dont think he can recognize when certain players are HOT because it seems he pulls them out right in the middle of a heater.
FIRE IME!!! We need a fresh young offensive minded coach that can relate to today's generation

What I notice to be honest is no one seems to want to answer this question.

What suffers a lot if the paint is packed a lot? I'll expand on my answer but to be honest I'm not interested in having the discussion with anyone who doesn't really understand the knock on effects of how we play.

I just can't let that pass:

Trying to blame KD for the spacing issues? The guy is shooting 50/40/88 on 18 FGA per .... There are 3 other guys shooting over 40% from 3 - Reed, Tari and Okogie. Jabari 37% Holiday 39%. Shooting isn't this team's problem.

None of those guys are "the problem with spacing" .... It's one guy, Amen Thompson. He's shooting .200 from 3 and .360 from beyond 3 feet. Defenses only have to defend the space between him and the rim - any other shot the defense considers a win.
His defender is always shading either towards the paint where Alpi wants to work or towards the wing shooter which is usually either KD or Jabari making double teams and contesting shots easier.
Y'all think Alpi's drop in efficiency might have something to do with being the 3rd most double teamed player in the NBA and that Amen's lack of offensive gravity might just have something to do with that?

As for Alpi starting possessions at / outside the 3 point line - we agree on that being dumb as **** and likely on Udoka.
I've been complaining about it all season as well as forcing the ball to KD for him to initiate the offense from outside the 3 point line too instead of on the wing or as a play finisher, not a play starter.

    Udoka's offense sucks.
