The Rockets would have 48 minutes with either FVV and/or Reed on the court in competitive games. KD and Sengun would get the ball in better positions. Rockets would have about 10 to 15 mpg with Reed Sheppard having 3 shooters on the court with him such that it is FVV, Tari, or JSJ open for a three on PnRs instead of Sengun or Amen. Cats and dogs, living together.

This is why KD called Jabari a r****d LMAO

You gotta be a r****d or a hater to pass this to Amen instead Reed right here.

He is open, this is a coaching fail, he should have a heirarchy and Ime doesn’t.

    True. He is open.

So two better options than what he chose to do.

I don't blame him for taking the shot. He's a shooter and he's open. As a shooter you can't doubt yourself and think: "Wait, someone else is a better shooter than me, so let me pass up this shot."

If he passed to Reed, it would be a good play too because Reed was more open, not because Reed's a better shooter.

He has always been a good facilitator - he showed it at Kentucky when he was given some rope on the court. He did it last year as well. The issue with him is that he can get rattled when he is pulled. He has things to work on for sure, his handle can get more consistent and he can get tired when he is the primary ball handler - but he can run an offense well.

He didn't take the shot. Hell, I wouldn't even be mad had he taken the shot.

But nope. Just like J.R. mentioned, Jabari elected to pass it to Amen. Amen for a corner 3.........

    Reed open 3 attempt
    Jabari semi open 3 attempt
    Ament open 3 attempt

Out of all these options, which would you rather choose?

Jabari is pretty much mediocre at everything but passing and jumping are two of his worst skills. how do you have 5 TOs when you barely have the ball in your hands?

I wouldnt have blamed him for taking the shot either. Watching it live I thought when he didnt swing to Reed he was going to shoot it.

But He didnt take the shot here. He passed it to Amen who took a corner three and clanked it.

Right...its always kind of confused (annoyed) me how even going back to pre draft stuff people couldn't see how good of a passer he is. Leading that Kentucky team in assist aside, the types of passes he was making showed an obvious prowess in that area. Cant remember who but somebody here said he was "just a connective passer".

Never got the desire to pigeon hole him as a spot up shooting SG.

Reed had a great offensive game and should be starting and playing 30+ every game the rest of the season. I also think Ime is the problem not our personnel, although Stone made some mistakes with the roster construction. This last game, Ime did have a conundrum to solve. He obviously needed Reed on the floor for offensive purposes, but Reed had one of his worst, if not the worst, defensive games of the season. GSW relentlessly attacked him all night. Reed more than anyone on this team needs a rim protector.

Ime did what the fans have been screaming for and left Reed in down the stretch and into OT. He hit 3-3’s (all off of Amen assists) early in the fourth and was largely ineffective the rest of the quarter and in OT on offense and absolutely horrible on defense. Ime’s rotations and bench coaching is probably the worst in the league. Reed is an important part of our team, but needs to be managed correctly. If Ime is going to continue to run an ISO only offense with Durant and Sengun in the 4th quarter, Reed should probably be limited, because his positive impact (offense) is being neutralized and his defense is a negative. We got beat by Pods and Melton going off. I know the Reed only fans are going to blister me on a night when Reed’s shooting was so important, but basketball is played on two sides of the court and Reed has to concentrate on defense as well or he will become another Trae Young. In this regard, Ime is right, he just doesn’t know how to make it happen within the flow of the game.

But he didn’t take the shot he passed to Amen in the corner - I’d have preferred he take the shot.

edit - sorry I see they told you that already, should have read further down

Reeds defense needs to get better, but Ive seen him play better defense than he did in that gsw game.

I think part of the problem with his defense (and offense) late in the game is that Ime played him 17 straight minutes.

Dude didnt really play last season, has played about 25 minutes this year...and now Ime is playing him 17 mins straight at a time.

Hes already not a great defender. Ime shouldnt exacerbate it by throwing not giving him any rest from mid way through the third all the way until the end of the game. I know Ime isnt trying to sabotage him, but thats sabotage.

If he started him he could give him normal rest throughout the game and still give him a lot of minutes.

Jabari was playing absolutely great for quite a while before turning his ankle. His first game back was a catastrophe, but all the haters coming out in droves is no surprise. Tari has been playing absolutely awful for about 10 games now, but there is crickets with him. They are both good young players and will show inconsistency at times. Too many guys on this site are ridiculously impatient.

I agree his defense was suspect, but so was everyone else’s. If your so called elite defenders aren’t going to actually get it done, it’s hard to say only he needs to improve in that area. Also, the substitution rotations sucked… his legs were toast by the end of the 4th because he had played almost half of the third and all of the fourth. Shooters need at least a short break… plus, he’s unlikely to shoot 100% no matter who he is.

Honestly this is loss on coaching mismanagement- both Amen and Jabari coming back from injury, Sengun apparently sick, first half of a back to back and you use only three guys on your bench sparingly other than Reed. Unc, Okogie, Capela and maybe even Crawford should have gotten run or more run in this game. Even if you are “preparing” your team for the playoffs, on a back to back it’s illogical to push them.
