Should have kept them or atleast gave them another year to work with Yao

Would CD have magically figured out how to GM? Because he never put a functional team around Yao and Mac. I doubt he would have around anyone else either.

His legacy is FOUR PLAYERS SCORING IN A PLAYOFF GAME. I mean DAMN.

Im not sure that record will be broken. That was just a doomed era.

He didn’t magically develop a drinking problem post career. By his own admission he was dealing drugs as a child. He wasn’t a choir boy by any stretch of the imagination. We can agree he probably went through some ****. But he was definitely partying hard during his playing days.

Who said he was? Are you?

The report said he was drinking post NBA career. Where are you getting your info from dude. What reports said he was partying during his playing days that affected his performance? Btw people party everywhere. The corporate world is no different. The issue is whether it’s responsible and whether it affects your performance.

Rashard Lewis the home town kid who dreamed of playing for the rockets was available for all three of those picks. And it was an obvious pick for us. Just an idiotic miss.

I felt that JVG and CD wasted the precious year when Yao and TMac were both healthy. You've got two of the best offensive players and surrounded them with guys like Ryan Bowen, Juwan Howard, and Scott Padgett. The offense consisted of either force feeding Yao in the post or giving the ball to TMac and let him do his thing. There was a playoffs game against the Mavs where only two players scored in double digit.

Man Sura was one of my all time favorite pg’s. Carroll Dawson was really great that year. Mutumbo, Jon Barry, Mike James, Sura, and Wesley.

Those guys had skills combined with bball iq. Everytime we get guys like that it works out. We got a guy like that a couple of years ago with Kelly Olynyk. That guy ran the offense better than Wall or any of we had on the roster. That end of the year I actually wanted to watch basketball games when Olynyk was out there running things. When we didn’t bring him back, I knew the Rockets weren’t interested in winning or building at type of blue collar winning culture.

Rockets really don’t go after guys like that anymore. luckily we lucked into Reed. If Stine doesn’t get a real offensive system guy this offseason he’s killing or capping Reeds ceiling. Ree can’t create his own offense but he can create within a system. Just like Sura Reed is more Sura than Aaron Brooks and both were great former rockets pg.

To me I think all those guys actually came through and helped push that team. I'm obviously a Sura fan and to me he had a certain energy when he was out there that it seemed like they played harder. He brought an edge to the team and him with Jon Barry and the "3 in the a**" hand gesture was something that would get the team hype and right on cue JVG would make faces. lol Wesley was a good 3 point shooter and an underrated defender for us. Mike James was just a turbo, he really would come in and change the momentum of the games. Those were great additions. This team really missed Juwan Howard. Our squad was good, them refs played us, and Mattress Mack if I'm not mistake footed the bill for JVG's comments about the ref's which actually was part of the Tim Donaughy thing. They got Yao on moving picks when now, nobody sets their feet at all on picks.

Wesley was probably the best pg I’ve seen in rockets uniform when it came to stopping dribbling penetration. Rmeber before we acquired him we had Jim Jackson and it was a red carpet escort into the paint. It just messed up the integrity of our defense. That Wesley trade was probably the most important trade of that year. I liked Jim Jackson but he couldn’t keep guards in front of him

I was ok with the Sura / Padge / At least we played hard era
    But
I like the Franchise era more .. . it was more exciting
I'd rather watch exciting entertaining basketball with mistake
than mistake free hustle ball where every other win was a surprise
