This is an odd move, even for Trump.

Republicans will be 10 to 1 favorites on this election. Cornyn only a slightly stronger favorite than Paxton.

Is Trump really THAT freaked out about the possibility of losing the Senate that he feels it necessary to put his thumb on the scale in TEXAS of all places?

I think he just wants the victor to feel indebted to him.

What have I ever said here that’s racist? You, on the other hand, are always showing your racial hatred.

On face value alone, Cornyn winning would make for a more symmetrical general election.

Paxton is the best candidate, but has some controversy regarding affairs that could hurt him against choir boy / kindergarden brain Talarico. I'm fairly certain Trump will be advised to endorse Cornyn as he's a sure thing and won't require much funding to win. With Paxton, there will have to be a lot of money from the Rep Committee defending him against attacks on moral character.

For democrats, it's a feature for candidates to have these issues like Newsom, or wish death on their opponents children like the Virginia AG, but Republicans get super prudish about this kind of stuff so it might affect turnout.

Yes. A Paxton win would give him a chance to slip in the back door.

Why don't you post a clear outline of how Talarico will make your life better?

Since having a welcome mat for illegals and transing the kids won't affect you personally, apparently, what policies does he have that will?

It’s nice to have an actual Christian on the ballot in November.
Having an adulterer at the top of the ticket didn’t seem to hurt them in the past.

Do they offer any policies whatsoever?

all they have is trans, the new culture war of the month, immigrant bad, brown/black person bad, and now combating the existential threat that is Sharia Law that’s been running rampant in TX…

This is a real problem and you trying to downplay it because everything republican bad is what is wrong with politics right now. You being ignorant of the muslim end game , and what they do in every country they gain power in, is something they openly laugh at.

If democrats propose actual legislation I agree with that is obviously good for society, like banning insider tradiing, I don't automatically take the other side.

    100% in support.

They should go ahead and craft legislation to ban Sharia law. Ultimately, that law would mean we should not use public funds for religious schools or require a religious curriculum in Texas public schools, which are two things that Greg Abbott has been pushing for and has been fairly successful at. Recently, he also secured public funding for private schools, which are mostly religious, and has supported measures to post religious symbols like the Ten Commandments in classrooms and allow organized religious instruction or prayer periods in public schools, all of which a ban on Sharia law would eventually prohibit as well.

The recent ~40% odds the betting market is giving that the Democrats can flip the Senate this year is probably a good reason why. These folks are likely looking more closely at those odds than at polling, and I won’t blame them for it given recent outcomes.
