It's hard for them to see that somebody can partake in what they see as their cultural turf, like religion and hunting, while not embodying their ultimate cultural value: being an unrelenting dick to as many people as possible.

In other primary news, Al Green and Christian Menefee are headed to a runoff. Menefee had a slight lead. As I think I said earlier in this thread, I appreciate Al Green, but it is time to pass the baton to the next generation.
That would be the smart move and poetic that Paxton, who sacrificed whatever small amount of dignity he had to hang onto Trump's balls, would be tossed aside by the godfather.
It's a winning strategy with them, and seems to be enough of a wedge issue that gets people to vote. Notice how Conquistador, who is not even a real person really but an AI trained on Republican/MAGA talking points, has only posted about Talaricos views on gender and trans rights. I mean it's pathetic that they care so much about something that really doesn't affect them whatsoever, but they are definitely willing to make their own lives worse so long as they attack the LGBT community. Republicans don't want to make their own lives better, they want to make the lives of minorities worse.
I can see a scenario where Trump gives Paxton a job in his administration as a reward for his undying loyalty. Paxton is just the kinda guy Trump likes to get to do his dirty work. No morals and totally corrupt to the core.
They won with independents in 2024. I think independents are tired of the culture wars and care more about affordability and healthcare now.
It certainly works in Texas. Hell, Mike Fiers could win a Senate seat in Texas...as long as he has an "R" by his name.
