It is definitely getting tougher to know what is true. One can still read say 5-10 mainstream news sources --- including the allegedly NYT the liberal one and on a topic like current 7th war for Israel in the Middle East or economic redistribution there will be largely agreement. Social media is also tough to trust, but gradually is helping with getting out the truth-- often from previous mainstream journalists fired for being truth sayers inconvenient for the billionaire owned mainstream.

We are getting a bit a more wider cross section on the unprovoked Iran War as Trump in his stupid arrogance did not take the time to prattle about democracy in the Middle East, feminism or lgbqt issues in Iran. etc. Of course a couple of years of videos of the mutilated children of the Gazan, Genocide before the Zionists bought up Tiktok and X etc. have decreased the base polling numbers.

Well, the putative new Supreme Leader of Iran just had his parents, wife, and kid killed, so I'm sure he's anxious to get to the negotiating table.

There's some decent reporting that the Pentagon was very much against this and we are starting to see why. It sure looks to me like the civilian leadership ignored those cautions and just thought it would go like they imagined it. Problem is, they were imagining an imaginary war of the past. If they had given any thought at all to what's going on in Ukraine, they would have understood how dramatically drones have changed the battlefield. Air power has a different meaning since 2022. Meanwhile, we're using Patriot systems based on a foundation developed in the 1980s--still decent against individual missiles, not so much against a swarm of drones.

Of course, some of this old thinking still permeates the armed forces too. The office trailer where the first fatalities took place was hardened against car bombs, but the roof was the roof of a trailer. I suspect there are a lot of those issues out there.

Iran is threatening attacks on European cities if their governments coordinate with the US and Israel. EU countries are stepping up security measures and drone defenses. It sure seems like the Iranian strategy is to broaden the war so much that economically and diplomatically, the US and other countries are forced to make bad choices.

Still, we shouldn't worry. Our Defense Secretary is hard at work and doing everything he can during this war to raise funds for Republican candidates. (Have we ever had such a non-serious guy in charge of the military? He can only parrot cool sounding words like "force-multiplier" and "warrior mindset" and "warfighters." Really take some time and listen to him for a few minutes. It's all management-speak Pentagon style with some horrid sports metaphors thrown in. Not a single original thought in his greasy little head. He does make an effort to emphasize the hard consonants though.)

 

The administration was able to help get some MAGA influencers out of harm's way. Regular Americans, eh, they are on their own.

I'm really quite shocked that we have not launched missiles at Cuba yet. My guess is Putin has leverage there where he doesn't with Iran, but eventually I think Putin will signal that they won't do anything because Putin and Xi will see it as a massive success for the US to get stretched out to the point of failure everywhere.

A couple missile strikes, and some assassinations of Cuban Castro party officials will be something I think Putin would be okay with, and would assume that there will be enough left over to still have enough allies there to pick right up with their partnership that will be stronger in the long run, and in due time will bring Russia closer to our border.

 

We are now going to find out if Iran has any sleeper cells in America.
