Ime would love that trade. Mobley is definitely an Ime type of player. great defender and robot on offense.
Watched JG4 play live in Sacramento last night.. he..did not look good. Same unforced turnovers, defensive lapses, questionable ball handling decisions we've all come to loathe and expect! Really wanted to see Dillon..
JSJ is a fine player. No he’ll never make an all star team but he provides versatility on defense and rebounding. And his shot keeps improving. I see him as a taller trevor ariza style. .
It’s okay, getting Sengun made up for it. He’s easily the second best player in that draft so it ‘evan’d’ out…
I mean we watched 4 years of him doing low IQ low efficiency shet, why would that all of a sudden change in year 5.
Because stans see what they want to see. We're watching Sengun do the same thing now on an elevated level (but he got an All Star thanks to SGA dropping out!) and people expect him to change in....year 6? If young players are showing stagnation early on its a sign they rely on their physical gifts/innate abilities and arent really working on anything outside of that. Amen for example has a lot of work to do this summer if he wants to be anything more than a rim runner/connector. At least his FT% has gone up. Outside of Reed, Jabari has shown the most growth of the young guys on this roster.
Preach. Sometimes I can understand swinging for a home run with a scoring guard, but my philosophy is always best player available. And I think with hindsight GMs would avoid drafting from Ignite as well.
It happens, I get why it happened, they went flash over substance. The goal at the time was to put butts in seats and be entertaining while taking and flash is very good for that. I obviously disagreed with that approach, but I understand it. I'm just glad he's gone.
I don't think people realize how rare a "taller Trevor Ariza" really is. That gets you into 7 or 8 rebounds instead of 4 or 5. It gets you a block per game instead of functionally no additional rim protection. It gets you a guy who can (if he bulks up a bit more) guard up to the 5 and down to the 2 instead of pretty much just wings. If Jabari can become even just a 38% on 6 three point attempts guy, bulk up a little bit, make fewer mistakes, that is an elite roleplayer. In a league where OG Anunoby is getting paid $40 million this season, it's hard to overstate how valuable Jabari could be for us on his $24M average annual value contract.
Reading about Mobley and JSJ, but man, the Rockets had the best odds of a number 1 pick when Cade and Wemby were on board. We couldn't win the lottery either of those years. Both are MVP candidates this year and look to be for the next decade. The basketball gods continue to be ruthless to the Rockets.
Jabari doesn't need those numbers to be an elite role player. All that stuff is just a bonus, only top tier defense is the prerequisite. Draymond and Iggy could barely hit outside shots at all, but they were both shut down defenders and that was their primary value. You could argue that GS was a unique case because Steph and Klay were legendary shooters and didn't need spacing, but look at Giannis' supporting cast in Milwaukee. Giannis needs as much space as any other superstar. Bobby Portis averaged more points, rebounds, assists, and steals than Brook Lopez in fewer minutes, while shooting better from deep. But Lopez was the better fit next to Giannis because he anchored the defense and Portis couldn't. All of that other stuff didn't matter in comparison. Jabari's stats, percentages, and efficiency are already fine. When Jabari's defense gets to OG's level that's when his value will explode.
