The Texans are over the cap right now and they want to extend Will. I don't see any big FA moves. Fisher is your swing tackle and he's still on rookie contract. Freeling is a top 20 pick. I would expect Freeling to come off the board before Fanu. In the 1st your believe that one of Miller, Lomu, or Ilheanor will still be available. I don't think Proctors in play with the 1st round pick, but would be considered with the 2nd round pick
lots of “ifs” and assuming 32 other teams pass on them. Happened to us last year with all the guards off the board before we drafted
There will be an ol there that is worth the 28th pick. In fact there will be an ol there at 2-39. This is a deep ol draft. Much deeper than last year. IMHO
Yes, I know. Maybe they had a great rapport. Maybe Trent might like a change of scenery. I can dream, right?
The trade doesn't change my draft plans. I'm still angling for Iheanachor in the first (Proctor/Miller are my plan Bs). Then Pregnon at 38. Id bring Tyler Biadasz in to man the pivot and bring Brown back to mentor Tae and Iheanachor. Id look at maybe Wyatt Teller on a 1 or 2 year deal at RG and bring in a vet to push Pregnon to earn it at LG. Let's say Salyer because he has some OT capabilities (shout out to @raining threes ). In a perfect world I'd add another guard later to groom behind teller too. But all can't be done in a single offseason.
I don’t trust our GM to get the o-line right. His track record is poor. But I’ll feel some sense of relief if we make two starter-caliber o-line signings in free agency. Not dumpster diving, but quality free agents that will not come cheap. Big mauling guards/center. I need to see that to keep some faith. If we are in win-now mode for next season, we can’t depend on drafted rookies to plug a bunch of holes on the o-line.
Trent Williams lives down here and works out down here in the off season. Not the stretch that he would wanna play here if he gets cut
I am of the opinion this might actually pan out, probably more of a wish but if everything lines up and you get him on a short, overpriced guaranteed contract it could be a win-win..........2 years $25 per year, hell Howard got $20 and there is NO WAY he is worth that and IF they had paid him that I would be pissed Trent is a DAWG.............probably won't happen, but I can dream dam it
didn't we have an opportunity to get Trent Williams but we blew our load on Tunsil instead? Stupid BoB
It wasn't a *great* trade - but dumping that many resources into Tunsil - and not Williams - was actually the one part of the deal that made sense. Williams was... 31? Tunsil was 25.
Yeah, I like him alot and think he'd be solid at C for us. He's not coming cheap though and Nick doesn't spend much on FA OL.
I choose to reserve all of my WTF's until the offseason is over. To me, as it stands, it looks like an adult b!tching at a kid about how he's building his LEGO structure when it's 1/3 of the way done.
