Yeah - the point center thing only works if people have a reason to guard you out that high and generally that's not what's happening. Even dumping it to Alpi in the post is a dangerous game if we do it too much because his possessions will rarely end in more than 2 pts so we lose the points per possession game if our opponent is happy to trade our twos for their threes.
I think we're being a little bit hard on Alpi right now. But one thing that bothers me is that when I watch Jokic, I usually feel like he's looking for the right pass, and if the opportunity doesn't materialize, he'll go into scoring mode. With Alpi I feel like it's the opposite. He goes into scoring mode, and even when he's got his back to the basket, surrounded by 2 or 3 defenders with shooters right in front of him, he seems determined to keep the ball and try to score. He has the skill to find the right pass. But he doesn't seem particularly interested.
As this season went on, yes you are correct. But if you go back to the offseason threads people were overall saying the offense will be fine to run through Sengun. There was just a lot more overall optimism in the offseason on how the young players were going to flourish with KD joining. It's only mid-way through the season when people found that while KD is playing like a superstar, everyone else kinda just gotten worse or at least not getting better.
Good observation re: Jokic starting from outside the 3pt line. If only Alpi/Amen had the range to shoot it from there too.
He hasn't been able to handle KD's pressure. And on this one Im with KD, cant imagine playing with him cant be easy. But if Alpi was expecting KD to adjust, well. That is the issue for me. He is putting the same effort than last season or less. And last season Dillon Brooks was taking care of him, now KD is expecting him to take care of the OG and the young fella does not want to take on the role. Its a little like Harden and Howard, just in this case the center has not won anything to make us think he deserves the entitlement. Dwight had been to the finals and was DPOY when he came here. And we were angry as hell when he refused to roll
I don't think you second- and third-pagers realize just how significant my avatar changes are . . . truly The Key to a Championship Formula
That's been happening since year 3. He used to use the threat of the pass to create scoring opportunities. Now he's trying to force a double to set up the pass...but the thing is - he isn't proving to be a particularly effective scorer. It feels like he just has the wrong message in his ears - people are telling him he can't be stopped and he should be taking shots and the reality is - that may be his path in Euros, but in the NBA he is not a particularly an elite scorer- especially without a jump shot. It does feel like this is one of those situations where what is in Alpi's best interest as an NBA player is A LOT different than what is in his best interest playing for his home country.
This is true but the Nuggets system around Jokic is now nearly a decade old. Jokic, Murray and Gordon have been playing together for six seasons. It works like clockwork now, that's how Jokic can rack up like 8 assists in the first 10 minutes of a game. You often see Jokic getting the ball and instantly passing into some corner without even looking because he knows Murray or Gordon will be there. Alpi, especially this season, is not playing in a comparable system.
This is by far the most offensive avatar you've ever had. I am personally ashamed to even know who he is and I am envious of anyone who doesn't. Also I've reported you, and I will continue to report you every day until you change your avatar.
