You can say cost us a 2nd round pick or you could say cost us:

    Jayden Higgins
    Aireontea Ersery
    Kamari Lassiter
    Blake Fisher
    Juice Scruggs
    Jalen Petrie
    John Metchie

    They aren't all winners.

Here’s hoping he still some gas in the tank. Solid player. I approve.

Most likely he won't help much with this OL

    He's a solid player.

But, we need an every down back that we can count on.
Trying to patch it together is not the way.

Why? Pretty much every team goes RBBC by now. You just hope for health and a hot hand at year end.

Cas likely talked to FA RB agents and decided this was the way. Gives him more cash for FA OL.

We'll see next week if the market goes wild.

Would be a big mistake to have to force our draft because we keep stepping in it ourselves. What if a top tier WR/RB is sitting there at huge value? Oh well, we have to force OL. Not where we need to be.

Aim this whole season should be draft flexibility, not rigidity.

I think this is a shrewd move by Caserio. It sure looks like they’re going to invest heavily in the offensive line (+ extend Anderson), So this addresses a big need, at a discount, and leaves plenty of resources for the OL.

Spending… $12+M on a free agent RB limits your options.

Caserio loves trading away OL and not doing enough to address the line. For certain, he's getting fired after this season if that unit plays poorly.

Although, I have a sneaky suspicion he does sign a big time OL this upcoming year.

Montgomery gained 125 rush yards over expected behind a below-average run blocking OL. that’s why they wanted them. Marks also did well behind a bad run blocking line. + DM was incredibly effective in the RZ in ‘23 and ‘24. Gibbs - who’s REALLY good - stole those opportunities in ‘25.

The Texans now have a tandem there has proven to be better than their offensive lines.

If the top tier WR/RB is sitting their and you dont need , then you trade back because as you say 'huge value'

I think it's good he wants more action, actually. Shoulda said that.

I went off an article days ago, saying Montgomery was "unhappy in reduced role". Montgomery himself did refute that claim as false. Still he coincidentally got traded right after that? Maybe there was something to the "false" claim lol?

I still don't think it'll be a problem. Maybe its, he felt his workload would decrease even MORE behind Gibbs. And at least wanted a situation with potential to do more, since Gibbs shut the door on that. (He probably won't get his wish, but it's understandable)

I hear ya, but please read this from Grok.

The Houston Texans currently have four offensive linemen from their active roster under contract for the 2026 season, following recent trades of Tytus Howard (to the Cleveland Browns) and Juice Scruggs.

Recent reports (from March 2, 2026) indicate:
Aireontae Ersery (LT, age 24, 3 years left on contract).

Jake Andrews (C, age 26, 1 year left).

Blake Fisher (likely RT/OT, age 22, 2 years left).
One additional player is mentioned in some sources, bringing the total to four under contract on the offensive line from the active roster.

Spotrac's 2026 cap table lists more OL players with 2026 cap hits (indicating they are under contract for that year), including:
Jarrett Patterson (C, cap hit ~$3.7M).
    Jake Andrews (C, ~$3.7M).
    Aireontae Ersery (LT, ~$2.1M).
    Blake Fisher (RT, ~$1.8M).
Others like Eli Cox (C), Jarrett Kingston (G), Sidy Sow (G) also show 2026 cap allocations.

This suggests at least 7 players have some form of contract/cap presence in 2026 (e.g., rookies, multi-year deals, or low-cost extensions), but media reports emphasize only four as the core/active roster OL under contract after the trades, with the line facing a major overhaul via free agency, trades, or draft. Discrepancies may stem from pending free agents (e.g., Ed Ingram not under contract), depth/reserve players, or very recent roster moves.

For the most precise count, Spotrac shows 7 offensive linemen with active 2026 cap hits, but contemporary news highlights the thin state at just four key ones remaining after departures. The team is expected to address this aggressively in the offseason starting March 11, 2026.

We still need weapons. Remember how empty our cabinet was against NE? No Nico, no Mixon, no Schultz (for most), etc. deep teams make runs and hoping a late 20’s RB alone to be the difference season over season is too much of a gamble.

I like Monty, but our window is open right now and they have to kick the door in. We still need weapons we can trust….and OL. We’re painting ourselves into a corner if we have to force every pick to be a hit.

What hurt us is that Caserio used a first and two seconds on two guards and a tackle in the 22', 23', and 24' drafts and they were all busts. He then traded Tunsil and now Howard. I sure hope that he can re-sign Ingram and Brown and at least another before the draft. There shouldn't be any question that the OL is the top priority this off-season and let's pray that Caserio doesn't f*ck it up - again.

Free Agency is super critical now we need at least 2 solid vet OL starters. Who's it gonna be?

I guess we could make some trades as well. But I have to believe today's moves were precusors to some key vet signings.
