I said a year or two ago that they're building around Jalen? Please share that. Two years ago, I would tell people that they could trade Jalen or Sengun for a star and many refused to believe that. They could have traded Sengun this past offseason just as easily as Jalen, depending on the available target. I wouldn't take the bet if I was you either. I honestly think that's smart. I want to make sure this is clear: Because I said four years ago, mid-Jalen rookie season after he was taken with the #2 pick, that Jalen is the only core guy at the moment -- in response to people saying the "young core" was 7-8 players and with clear caveats that Jalen is not a lock to be a special player and players like Sengun or KPJ could work their way there -- you want to discredit what I'm saying now? OK cool. I was trying to give you valid info but whatever. I suggest making it simple -- $100 wager. If Amen gets traded and Sengun does not, you win. If Sengun gets traded and Amen does not, I win. If both get traded or neither get traded, nobody pays anything. We will make it the whole summer -- so say for example Sengun is traded in June or July, I don't win the bet yet. We would have to wait until the season starts to see if Amen is still here. Deal? I want to be clear because I can already see the friction from fans emotionally attached to Sengun coming: I'm not saying he's gone. Trades are difficult. You have to have a good market. There's still lots of season and the playoffs will dictate a lot. All I'm saying is if the Rockets have to trade one of the two (which is what people in here were saying), it won't be Amen Thompson.
I've been a HUGE supporter. But the constant quitting and **** effort go beyond the box score and are glaring red flags. We skewered McGrady for the toronto game, how many of those has senguin had?? Those issues aren't really fixable to be honest and lets all be real...in the years of watching the NBA how often are players like that really ever effective? He puts in zero effort when the play doesn't involve him. Amen gives it his all every single night. It shouldn't be surprising to anyone that the front office is very high on Amen (and I don't think its misguided either despite my criticisms of their other* decisions)
I have been a huge Sengun fan, but I have seen zero improvement on his mid range consistency. Much more important than a 3 for PF/C. Not to mention his constantly complaining for a foul is beyond irritating. Him and Amen do not mesh on the same team. I would love to get into the top ten in this draft. I love the guard depth in the top ten and pairing with Reed could make for a pretty dynamic back court. If we could get a serviceable big (non ball dominant, defense and rebounding center), top 10 this year and a couple future firsts, hopefully one with minimal protection, id be good.
Plus Sengün as controversial as he is, would still automatically be more marketable as an international star......(incl. his fashion sense). With Amen you have to always hope that he goes off.....like with Jabari.....or else he is just a great role player who shows flashes.
Why would the Rockets trade Amen this summer anyway he’s still on his rookie contract that would be extremely dumb. Am I missing something?
Yeah, peeps underestimate the stress and distress a pampered superstar is putting us thru when he is not winning the chip, weeks and months of drama.
Hi Alpijohn, I’m so not happi. But I’m still a believer. Now get your head out of your ass or they about to do you like Jalen.
Is Thabeet still available? Would love to hear the music over the PA adjusted to... ♪♪ We Got Thabeet, We Got Thabeet... Yeah, We Got Thabeet ♪♪
More marketable to who, Turkiye? Alpi doesn't really have that crossover appeal, regardless of how silly his outfits get. Tbh the crazy outfits, the lack of energy, the trying to play heroball earlier in the year....Sengun looks entitled as a mother****er, he's playing for himself more than the team, which may be because it's not his team like he thought and is very firmly KD's team as our only actual superstar level talent. Sengun's looking petulant and sulky, a bit like KPJ or Cam as of late. Sidenote: I was drunk af last night and saw someone write "turkish delight" under a youtube vid featuring Sengun so thought "hmmm, wonder how much it'd be if I bought it from Turkey" - turns out, not that much and it gets here on Thurs. But now I'm getting spammed to **** with ads for Turkish candy bars. Any recommendations from the Turkish fans? If this TD is fire I'll probably be ordering again haha.
I think there's some truth to the idea that Sengun's efficiency is affected by Amen's lack of gravity - Alpi is double teamed on 77% of possessions, 3rd most of any player in the league. Teams hedge or double off of Amen when he's on the perimeter pretty much 100% of the time. The defense gets Amen to take a shot from anywhere other than "At the rim" they call that a win because he shoots .367 from 3 feet and beyond.
