I was raised Muslim, I was Muslim longer than you've been alive, I've been to Iran more than you, I've lived abroad and I have no hard feelings towards Islam. In my family there are Shiites, Sunnis, Buddhists and Christians. Like I said, the PR narratives you're regurgitating was created for a foreign audience. The stereotypes will not work on me.

The people of Iran have always been and will always be freedom-seeking since the day Cyrus the Great invented the practice of secular governance, till the Shah became one of the first monarchs on earth to voluntarily hand a government over to a Democratic Parliament and all the way until they swallow up whatever new puppet is put in place after this fiasco. Any Iranian we pick off the street who has lived both in and out of Iran will laugh at the notion that a lot of people are mourning that dude's death.

Trump's stated goal is regime change. Iran had a democratically elected Prime Minister, with a constitutional monarchy. The US literally overthrew him and installed the Shah. The Shah was then overthrown with the Islamic republic.

The US is now parading around the old Shah's son. Are we going to allow them a democracy? It doesn't seem like it. Will the remnants of the Islamic Republic just go away? Will something worse form in the void? Who will China back? Who will Russia back?

Destroying things is the easy part. It took 20 years to stabilize Iraq. How will that happen in Iran without boots on the ground? The population of Iran is twice that of Iraq.
