A few other thoughts from a West Coast guy who just got up to let the dog out and now can't go back to sleep after reading the latest news:

LOL at folks saying Iranians in the US are big supporters of this. Did they interview them down in the warehouse district at the ICE holding facility? Every Iranian here in the US, whether here legally or not, should now be scared of any pack of SUVs on their street. We are about to make WWII Japanese internment camps look good.

For the folks saying this is all done for the protesters in Iran, are you also saying other countries should bomb us because of massive "No King's" rallies? (Or maybe you continue to think those rallies ought to be bombed by the administration?)

We are only a few pages in and this is shaping up eerily similar to 2003, with the same people (or type of people) supporting this crap. I can't believe we are doing this again.

This is not limited air strikes. It was done to create a reaction that would escalate things quickly.

Hundreds of millions of dollars go boom in the night. Billions and maybe trillions to follow. And blood. We have lots of military power. We also have limits. Limits that are less flexible when we do things without a bunch of coalition allies. And yes, we will eventually have to pay for it all and that payment will be taken away from critical needs.

Trump making the announcement on Truth Social and not bothering to do anything else is bad on so many levels.

An appeal to democracy by an administration and their followers who are the most anti-democratic force in this country's history is quite something.

Unlike Afghanistan or even Iraq, we've traded a broad global coalition to team up with Israel and now the Saudis(?) in a regional war. Great Britain, France, and Germany issued a joint statement that was anything but a positive for the US. Of course, the administration has done little to keep our once-upon-a-time allies informed and enjoys making unilateral decisions based on crackpot memes and whatever looks like masculinity to an 11 year-old.

Trump: "The lives of American heroes may be lost, and we may have casualties — that often happens in war." Yeah, we know. That's why it was really stupid to elect a guy and a bunch of his toadies who look at the military as playthings. But again, the opponent was a Black lady, so what could we do?

Good day for Putin, who can keep on committing war crimes and sending Russians and North Koreans to die on the frontlines in Ukraine without much international attention.

You can call for regime change, sure. But that has the effect of creating an existential outcome for the current Iranian government, giving them little reason to not do everything possible to stay in power while giving them no incentive at all to negotiate. But, it seems, our side of the negotiations have been a sham anyway.

I feel for the leftover leadership in the Pentagon. They warned the appointees and the President, but were quickly dismissed. Now, they have to carry this out as best they can knowing that it is high folly.

As i think someone else here said, fill up your tanks--or quickly go buy that EV. It'd be prudent to start saving now for any future shocks that might occur. It'd be stupid to think this can't affect you.
