    Are you conflating leftism with liberalism? The overwhelming majority of people who call themselves "liberals" are actually leftists.

    I disagree with you that "liberalism" is an "intrinsically Christian ideal". The foundation of Christianity is believing in and faithfully following the Christ (Jesus), loving him and God the Father, obeying them, and loving one another. That is the foundation of Christianity.
