    Looking back at this thread it's really kinda silly considering how obvious it is that the team name refers directly to space rockets, but Clutch was mostly joking... I hope?

    Houston isn't really known for anything else other than oil & gas and dystopian urban planning anyway

    The Bullets were a good name and actually inappropriate for today’s team because none of those guys can shoot

    the Rockets are still best name for any team in Houston
    The Texans is made by lazy people

    If forced in this weird scenario I would name the team the Terminators

    i do like a sense of commonality across a city's sports teams, Rockets, Comets...Jets, Nets, Mets...

    Many folks don't know the KC Chiefs are actually named for the Mayor who brought the team from Dallas to KC. H. Roe Bartle was called the Chief. and then they added The Royals, The Kings, and The Monarchs.
