    I think even without Israel existing, we’d still be committed to trying to enforce the Iranians to become our protectorate or puppet. The last Shah of Iran was literally a puppet for us until he was forced out and replaced by the clerics.

    Iran made the choice to go this alone and as a result neither Russia nor China will be coming to rescue them. They will die fighting the Great and Little Satans. Iran vs Israel, Iran wins. Iran vs US, US wins. Israel is still our protectorate despite being a nuclear power.

    I am not sure how history will judge our actions and inactions. The Iranian people have little freedom and economically they were crippled by the US and then the EU through widespread sanctions like the Iraqi were.

    Taking out the Iranian government via missiles and bombs rather than forcing them out through an organic people’s uprising will lead to a massive power vacuum. The conflict and any ensuing conflict to reassert control over the 80 million Iranians will certainly led to the deaths of Iranians.

    But who knows how this plays out. Until the shooting starts this is all hypothetical.
