Dana talks a lot, doesn’t do a lot did we do this because Joey still has options and Sanchez is a moron?
I’m happy to offload Sanchez. I expected too much when he first got here. He was mashing and then it all fell apart. Loperfido is a nice story but of course not a needle mover.
Salary relief and adding an optional LH fringey OF with a tiny bit of upside. Not a great trade but not terrible. Let’s see what they do with the added money.
He will just use 3 PHs in a row in one game then go into extras with everyone trying to figure out if a reliever can be the Manfraud runner
They did it to clear $6.8 million from their payroll (more like six million if Loperfido makes the opening day roster). This gets them further away from the CBT.
Great trade in my opinion. Gets rid of Sanchez and his salary, adds outfield depth, sets up another move.
I'm a bit confused, couldn't we have just nontendered Sanchez and saved the money. Hopefully, this is before a bigger mover.
Sure but why? They got a free player with upside instead. And they'd need another OF so they'd have had to pay for one in that case.
Yes, they could have done that earlier this offseason. Instead, they accomplished the same thing while also getting a player who could help provide depth in the outfield.
Man, I really don't want to trade Parades. I really don't. It's a side effect of Walker being ass and overly paid, nobody wants him so we have to trade the younger, better, more positionally versatile, cheaper player. An example of how a bad move can domino into other forced, bad moves.
Yes but this trade proves Sanchez had surplus value. If they’d nontendered him they wouldn’t have gotten Loperfido. Not a huge difference but Loperfido is a decent bench player with some upside.
