Amen is not having the impact he did last year. Don’t get me wrong the stat sheet looks good. But him being focused on being a PG changed who he actually is, a game wrecker. He’s not attacking the rim with force and the defensive tenacity dipped with DB gone. This team is struggling to put pressure on the rim and some of that has to do with not having a PG. When Sengun is getting doubled in the paint we gotta have someone to attack the rim with force. Jabari is not helping in that area. Maybe pick up Sohan. Though his offense sucks he can do just about everything else and plays with a chip on his shoulder.
Trade Amen and Sheppard for a star/almost guard. Trade Sengun for Giannis. Get a stretch 5. Sign Tari. Championship is ours.
He's certainly in the conversation .... and he does a lot of things better than most, but damn that shooting, it's a killer. Eventually the team is going to have to make a decision between him and Alpi and I hope they make the right one. (Not saying I have a clue as to which one that is)
"Most Athletic Ever!" But doesn't jump the highest, or run the fastest, or hit the hardest, definitely isn't the most physically imposing/strong, and probably isn't even the top 10 in a lot/most of these categories. So he's the best "all round athlete" which translates to: Can't dunk over people, can't completely destroy every offense with speed alone, is a decent defender, but only 1 season in 3 is he dominant, doesn't have the supreme athletic coordination to naturally make flawless passes and effortless shots, doesn't overpower anybody in anything other than 2 blocks or 2 rebounds back to back? So how exactly is this "best athlete ever" worth anywhere near the supposed lesser (read: actually significantly more athletically dominant) athletes who are better than him in all of those things?
My hope is that they both realize their limitations and defer to Reed. Same with Jabari and Tari. That way we can keep all of them and eff some mofos up.
Ive said that theyll need to make a decision also, but if Amen can become just a 30% shooter and can learn to shoot 3s off the dribble I think it changes things. Now, I dont think either of those things happen, but I wouldnt completely rule it out. Also, in the slight chance Ime is gone while we still have them both I think a better offensive coach could do things to make it work. Kerr had, Draymond, Bogut, Iguadola and Shaun Livingston out there and was still able to generate high level offense.
or both. And if they trade Amen as well then they better get back a young guard that can score and make plays whoever that is. Time is running out. This team isn’t good enough simply put
What I don’t understand about Amen is he is excellent FT shooter, why can’t he shoot????????? He needed 2 years of college, but don’t blame him, blame Stone
That's not going to help much, just a little. At the end of the day when you have 2 non-shooters they will just never leave the other 3 open and they will sag off one of the 2 non-shooters to guard the other. What compounds this problem is they don't even have to think or stress about it. Usually a defense is uncertain of what the offense will do. Not with us. There's no way around it. One of them will learn to shoot or one of them will be gone.
Or they get FVV and Adams back and double down on double bigs. FVV, Amen, KD, Adams, Sengun. Dream lineup for Ime. Walk it up, chunk it up, hit them boards fellas.
They'll try it and just be mediocre. Once Ime's reputation is in jeopardy he throws everyone under the bus. One of them will shoot or one of them will be gone, I guarantee it before the trade deadline next season. On a funny note, the most Ime thing I ever heard ever: we're one of the worst teams in the NBA at converting offensive rebounds apparently. We can't even make putbacks efficiently lol.
Less than Zero chance they both shoot decent the rest of the week much less the season. I've lost faith ....
Amen can't shoot because he can't shoot - not because of Stone. Why couldn't he shoot before Stone? And Amen is an average FT shooter. He was never a good FT shooter before this season. He has improved a ton just to be average, which is a good thing. I pray his shooting does eventually, as well.
lol, this guy wants to get rid of our three best young players for players with only a few prime years left when the guy calling the shots from the bench, who knows zero about coaching an NBA offense is by far the main issue with the team. You could bring in the prime Dream Team and it wouldn't make Ime be able to coach offense.
