Interesting action from Israel against nascent Palestine. For the casual observer; the West Bank is politically separate from the Gaza Strip and it is still being erased.

It seems to fly directly in the face of Trump’s proposed peace.

“The changes were made by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s security cabinet at a closed-door meeting on Sunday. By enhancing Israel’s control over West Bank territory the Palestinians want for a future state, they effectively advance the cause of annexation by degrees — continuing a strategy that the government has been pursuing for years.

But they come after Mr. Trump’s recent, explicit rejection of annexation, his acknowledgment of the Palestinians’ aspirations to statehood — made explicit in his peace plan for Gaza — and his support for political talks between the Israelis and Palestinians.

Mr. Netanyahu, who is set to travel to Washington to meet with Mr. Trump on Wednesday, did not announce the changes. Instead, they were detailed after Sunday’s meeting by two government ministers who oversee West Bank policy.”

The security cabinet took actions that make it easier for Jews to buy land in the territory. Critics say the changes violate the Oslo Accords and international law and accelerate attempts to annex the land.

This is a clear example of why a two-state solution has never been or will be viable. When people bring up the prior "deals" that they believe Palestinians should've accepted over the years, they ignore the part where the zionist occupiers refuse any binding commitments stating they will not expand their borders.

Let's define liberal Zionists as those who oppose genocide, the more blatant ethnic cleansing and apartheid but say that Israel still has the right to exist in historic Palestine as some sort of state privileging Jews over non-Jew Palestinians. They cite a myriad of reasons: e.g The UN voted to give Jews a state there (one of the few times Israel has supported the UN; Jews were victims of the Holocaust in Europe; A small number of Jews lived n the area for centuries; (there were more Christians and of course Muslims living there for centuries); their religion talked of returning to the land around Jerusalem; the only way to make Jews safe is have a homeland where they dominate. These liberal Jews tend to blame Netanyahu and his party that has been in power elected democratically for over 25 years.

Why not a One State with equal rights for all like we have in the US? The liberals Zionists dismiss this as of course it is not the Zionist project, but say immediately Israelis will never ever accept this so it is unreasonable to discuss it.

These liberal Zionists folks are often not xenophobes who hate folks other religions or ethnicities and who personally feel comfortable interacting, even marrying Christians and Muslims in multi ethnic/religious states like the US, where they thrive.

My question to these liberal Jews why support the intolerant state of Israel ?
