crazy pats were able to generate long td drive after long td drive against the texans and can't do anything against seattle
They had short fields left and right against us due to horrible QB play. Tonight they had to drive 75 or 80 yards every time they got it. They ended up with more yards per play tonight than against the Texans.
It's deeper than the obvious points. - Defense on the field longer* - Field position - TO guarantees you don't score Also arguable teams don't try as hard with an incompetent QB, your own team. They lack confidence their all-out effort has significance. * - and the inverse -- Opponents defense on the field shorter
Also kills any possible momentum for an offensive drive. What's funny is this is the guy who, throughout the season, was accusing anyone critical of CJ of having an agenda and just looking at a couple of stats.
The pats had THREE long touchdown drives against the texans. The pats literally didn't score a point in this game before garbage time. Zero. Not a field goal, literally zero.
They probably would've killed us, but at least Houstonians would've seen their team play in a Super Bowl. My mom is turning 77 this year, had Oilers season tickets, and follows the Texans religiously. It's possible she, and many other older Houstonians, will die without ever seeing a Houston team compete for a championship. We're never mentioned alongside the Lions, Browns, etc. for most-tortured fanbases, but we should be.
I was talking solely about the defense hence why I said more talent on D. Macdonald is a defensive HC and he calls their plays. If you listed out the best defenders on the Hawks and Texans, the first 3+ players would be Texans. Seattle’s blitz packages, the timing of the blitzes, and the play calling in general is just far superior IMO. Macdonald is just a great defensive mind. No one was even talking about this Seattle defense pre season. But yes, I agree Seattle obviously has a better offense.
1 If CJ had no TOs, the Texans would have been in the Super Bowl. Not saying they would have beaten the Seahawks, but at least they would have been there. 2 The Seahawks punter deserves a slice of the Super Bowl MVP trophy. The guy was very good all year, but he picked the Super Bowl to level up and either boot rockets or go surgical, whichever was needed. 3 Yes, Mike Macdonald is a genius defensive play-caller. While they may not have a Stingley or WAJ, some here are underestimating their overall talent. Nick Emmanwori was a revelation all year and allowed them to use 5 DBs as their regular package instead of playing a "base" defense like everyone else in the NFL. This was a really big deal. Even so, some veteran QBs carved up their zone like a Thanksgiving turkey (Stafford and Baker), but Drake Maye was in way over his head.
Agreed on all accounts. I assume you’re referring to me about underestimating their talent on defense - to be clear, I agree they have a lot of talent as well.
