Im not sure how old Eli Witus is… but i think if he's close to retirement. We might need a whole new administration not just a GM.
he missed 22 games last season and looked like he was declining to me, but fair point to say he’s not injury-prone. And I agree about Clint vs Kornet, etc. But is it not fair to say we should have bolstered the backcourt this offseason? Instead of putting everything into the front court? Many of us were begging for that, it was our biggest weakness last season. We lost Jalen, Reed barely played last season, but we decided not to add a guard? It’s highly questionable decision-making.
Comparing Stone to Morey reminds me of the old saying “I taught you everything you know, but I didn’t teach you everything I know”. Lots of NBA GM’s from the Morey tree. Few had the same success. Plus exploiting Morey wrinkles like pick swaps is league wide now.
I think that's more than fair. PG was the closest to a single point of failure while at Center, if you lose Sengun or Adams, you can still play small ball. Reed was essentially a rookie and was too big of a gamble. However, I don't mind them adding Capela as much as adding another defensive forward, on a team already stacked with forwards. The defensive forward spot should have gone to another guard. I guess their thought process was to replace Brooks, and that wasn't a bad decision if Finney-Smith actually played up to his Lakers' level.
Well you left out the fact that we still have a young, developing core including three potential playmakers that we still need to figure out what we have in. I think the FO signaled they were not "all in to contend" this offseason and continued to signal that by showing they prefer evaluating their young core and the buyout market over giving up any assets. You may not agree with the plan but that is what the FO decided to do.
I look up from my seats and see him every single game sitting up 8 rows from the floor shaking his head and miserable. I do not like this man as our GM. :/
Reed/Amen is the PG. I'd start accepting that reality. This team doing nothing at the deadline clearly showed what the front offices intentions are with what they intend the team to be. They want Reed/Amen/Jabari to develop and they want to keep those picks in the event they need to pivot from Durant.
Ehh I was cool w it. Coulda kept the Nets picks but the Nets wouldve just tried to keep playing .500 ball in the crappy East. Theyre still valuable picks. Phoenix isnt gonna be any good either.
