What was life like in the late 1900s?

I was in advanced typing class when our principal came on the intercom and announced it. This was our generation's Pearl Harbor or JFK assassination.

 

We used to regularly call the Jack Cheese show to stage alien abduction scenarios in the 70's...

Hadn't thought of that in years till I saw your post. It was a great radio show.

 

Math. Fifth or sixth grade. My teacher came in and just sort of blurted out that the space shuttle just blew up. I thought he was joking.

 

Saturday nights they had a show called Art Nouveau and Freddy Snakeskin or something like that. They would just randomly open up the phone lines and put anyone on without screening them or anything. This was like 1am so the calls were always REALLY weird.

 

Interesting. You must be younger than I. Jack Cheese was the all-night Saturday show on KPFT as well. I moved from Houston in late 70's.

Then they reset the matrix during Y2K.

 

Makes me wonder if you were the guy that one time called into Jew Don Boney's show and said.... stuff. I about fell out of bed laughing at one of the prank calls. Even JDB was trying not to laugh and seem composed, but you could tell he wanted to bust out laughing because the call came out of nowhere with a wild-ass comment.

I remember using that to post in NBA forums back then, but there was another one (or two) I used to use before I switched to Agent. Can't remember the name, though.

 

Jew Don Boney... Now, that's a name I've not heard in a long time. A long time.

He was one of the shows we used to prank. It was always good natured juvenile stuff. Like saying hi to someone or yelling "Van Halen rules!!!!" Keep in mind I was in the 7th grade at the time...

Poor guy would have a 20-minute monologue about some very serious issues affecting the community...then he'd open up the phone lines to see what everyone thought and the first 10 calls would be prank calls. Talk for another 10 minutes....then 5 more prank calls.

Good times.

Amazing. My mom didn’t know where I was half the time. And it was easier to lie.

 

I miss calling in requests to KRBE and taping the radio with my kickass boombox.

 

And riding GL over. And over. And over.

most of my friends first job was janitor service at Astrworld. That place was a dump because my lazy ass friends would just hot box the bathroom all shift.
