Fisher often played as a 6th lineman and so his grade can definitely be misleading.

Which would mean that PFF doesn't factor for total # of snaps or who the lineman is blocking. Which is kind of silly. There's no way in hell Blake Fisher was in the top 3rd of all tackles in the league.

They do factor in total snaps... but we all know PFF misses the mark (block) when partially deciding who was supposed to be blocking who when it comes to pressures, sacks, TFL, etc.

Looks like we have a few bonafide starting level players. Not many but a few.

And 3 of those missed the majority of the NE game.

    Thanks for posting.

But after JJ shredded them a couple years ago, I can’t & haven’t taken them seriously. :D

Every time PFF is mentioned, I think of JJ.

The system is terrible,” Watt said of PFF. “Do they watch a lot of film? Sure, great. Do they know everybody’s assignments? Do they know exactly what’s supposed to happen? Do they know how they’re waiting and how they’re supposed to do different things? No. It’s just a terrible system, and the fact that they have the ability to affect not only what the public thinks about players, but literally are affecting voting for awards, how players contracts are being handled … it’s really pretty scary and crazy that they’ve gotten that level of power.”

Watt said it’s “ridiculous” that PFF’s rankings are shown on “Sunday Night Football.” He really doesn’t like how PFF is regarded as such an authority.

“They come from a high and mighty place. And they speak like they know everything there is to know about football … as somebody who’s done it … I’ve literally sat in a meeting with coaches and put the grades side-by-side, from a coach’s grade and from the PFF grade. I’ve done it. And it’s not even remotely close,” Watt said.

“So don’t sit here and tell me, ‘you don’t know what you’re talking about. You don’t know how all this works.’ Yeah, I do. I’ve literally done it. I’ve sat in that room and done it with coaches in the National Football League. So take your sh– and shovel it somewhere else, because I’m not dealing with it.”

    _____

“The number one issue with PFF by far, bar none, hands down is their player grading system and the fact that they project it everywhere, including nationally televised games on Sunday night, where everybody’s watching. And they make it underneath the rankings, where it states as fact ’91st out of 97th defensive tackles.’… that is a completely made up number.”

“You can’t watch film on TV copy and create a grade,” Watt said. “You can’t break down a person’s grade and know what they’re supposed to do if you don’t now their exact assignment. I know defensive line play unbelievably well. I could not go and grade a game for a player and give him a definitive grade without speaking to him, his coach, the scheme, everything. It’s a fact. PFF has a ton of great stuff. Player grading sucks. Stopping putting it out.”

Isn't Collinsworthless a major investor in PFF? I think that's why they blast it as gospel... he (& NFL) are trying to pump its value

PFF isn't perfect but they are right a lot more than they're wrong.

I don't disagree with you but Ersery played poorly against New England. He needs to get leaner, stronger, and quicker.

For a 2nd round rookie, charged with protecting QB's blindside I would say he did fairly well... everybody on the offense need to play better against New England.

I think most players not named WAJ or Hunter could improve physically

Juice Scruggs 77 out of 80 passes the eye test. What on earth was Caserio thinking.

I like Ersery and I wanted to draft him. He had an ok rookie year. I'm glad that we have him, but he must improve if he is going to be our starting LT.

Yea, I didn't like that pick the moment that he made it. Scruggs spent FIVE years at PSU and after all that was only voted as a B1G THIRD-TEAM guard by B1G media, who obviously knew he wasn't a second-round talent.

From the outset that one felt like a classic Rick Smith 2nd-3rd round pick. "Ok so his consensus ranking is 50 spots below where you picked him. He's already behind the 8 ball in terms of being able to meet expectations for the draft slot you got him at." Antwaun Molden type.
