Being a United fan is like being a Houston sports fan from 1996 until 2017, Just good enough to keep you hooked but ultimately depressing as hell. My Sunday league team could beat Wolves. It's the 4th time in the last month we've had a chance to go top 4 AT HOME TO A LOWER RANKED TEAM only to give up points. Had we taken 3 in all of those games, we'd be 3rd ahead of Villa right now.

Didn't even bother to watch while we are on our winter break. From what I've heard PL is now mainly set pieces and throws, ugly to watch. Hope that isn't true.

Now that the new year has started, players with expiring contracts may officially start talking to other clubs. The class of 2026 is center back heavy with Upamecano (Bayern), Guéhi (Crystal Palace), Konaté (Liverpool) and Rüdiger (Real Madrid) all free in summer. Schlotterbeck (Dortmund, contract until 2027) is also on the move. Could lead to a domino effect.

I think the set piece thing is being a bit overblown but it's definitely played a part in the season thus far. Arsenal have been masterful at it on corners.

And once again, United making unwanted news by sacking Amorim. I'm not saying he didn't deserve it, especially after his rant after the Leeds match, but it's crazy when it's just 2 months from Sir Jim saying he's going to get 3 years. I have no idea what direction we go in now. I can see a new manager bump because I think Amorim was very strict and players can maybe play a little more freely...but being 1/2 way through a rebuild around playing a 3-4-2-1 (and with so many players at AFCON and injured) I have no idea what to expect from an interim (which is looking more and more likely to be Ole Gunnar round 2). If it is him, it might be a good time to recall Rashford as his best was under OGS. Or maybe OGS can figure out how to get literally anything out of Sesko.

At least y'all have more than the bare minimum of matches. Losing in the first attempt at both the Carabao and FA Cups means United will only play 40 matches this year...lowest since 1915.

So we'll be well rested, I guess.

Xabi Alonso is out at Real. I guess he'll sign in England next. Slot should watch his back now.

Well that escalated quickly. I'd bet he's very high on the list for United. Wonder if it changes their plan to hire an interim...though I'd hate to come into the middle of this mess with almost no time (or money) to make changes for the balance of the season.

I estimate Xabi to be quite loyal, so he might rather focus on the Liverpool job that might open up at latest im summer. Can imagine Wirtz to push for a reunion as well.

Good luck to everyone trying to handle this diva squad.

Final matchday of CL group stage will be wild. PSG, Newcastle, Chelsea, Barca, Sporting, City, Atlético and Atalanta all sit at 13 points, fighting for a top 8 spot with only three or four open.

That was my favorite day last year. Watching the table live as each goal was scored was wild. There were 64 goals scored in that one match day (awesome but also not the record). Plenty of drama that can happen with the top 8 and getting into the 9-24 slots. Only Arsenal and Bayern are set at the top and only the current bottom 4 have been fully eliminated.

Ho Lee ***. Arousing final matchday in the group stages with a lot of twists and turns. Biggest sensation is Bodo Glimt winning away against Atlético after beating City and now the Norwegians booked their ticket to the next round. Mourinho's Benfica beat Real and a last minute header by the goalkeeper(!) gave them the one goal to make it to the elimination stage as well, while Real fell out of the Top 8. Still don't like the new system but this last matchday makes up for a lot.

Solid season by Bayern so far, happy with 2nd place.

Chaos once again. Say what you want about this format but the old one couldn't produce single days like this.

Qarabag getting through even though they lost 0-6?

I had to leave my tv so I missed the end of the Benfica/RM match but that's awesome...especially considering it was Mourinho at the helm.

Kairat Almaty may have gone out pretty much as how they expected to go out...but they're taking home in excess of $20million. There probably isn't $20million in the entire Kazak league.

5 of the 6 EPL teams in the top 8 (and the other in the playoff) should pretty much guarantee 5 spots for next year...which is huge for my United.

Hard not to put Arsenal and Bayern as the odds on favorites...but there's so many good teams, you just never know. Like last season when PSG was near the bottom of the table and just made it into the knockout rounds...only to win it all.

Still don't like it. Tottenham finished 4th and they won exactly one game against a Top 24 team. The whole thing is too random and gives mediocre teams serious advantages.

But the good teams are still the good teams and they're still going to make the top 24. PSG last year (and maybe this one) is a perfect example.
