Reed needs to attack the paint, and go to the hole stronger....that is his next progression, but he is getting there, regardless of what some of the haters on this forum say....when everything is his fault...they turn a Bari disaster into Reed's fault, it is a joke. DD
I'm one of his biggest supporters and some of his continued mistakes (keep picking up his dribble, passing up good shots is infuriating), but last night he bounced back pretty well despite not the best shooting %. Reed does have a lot of haters, but its not really on CF. If you look at Reddit you can tell most of the posters there started watching basketball 5 years ago and are relentless in their bs. At the end of hte day Reed just has to step up and he is on the right trajectory for a de facto rookie player. The only thing that makes me hesitate is that our player development is clearly trash. Too many players end up taking a step back. If tillman wasn't so ****ing cheap (and what a short-sighted move on what to cheap on--development is essentially basketball R&D..) Jalen, Jabari Amen etc would have improved more
With Tari out, I wonder if Ime will start Reed or go back to Okogie. Since Sengun is out, we have to play a non scoring center. We need his offense. I hope Ime is smart enough to not "rely too much on a 37-year-old guy."
You believe in whatever nonsense you believe in. We all have our own opinions. With all due respect I don’t think you understood what the graph and what the guy was trying to say.
If Reed is going to start this year, this would be the most obvious game. He played his best defense of the year last game and we need his shot in the lineup.
Yeah, he's been doing this to guards, but the big shock to me in this game was Clingan pulling up twice when Reed as a help defender stepped in front of him. I thought Clingan would run him over, but I guess he got rattled. Reed didn't used to do that. He left it to his teammates to step in front of the train. I assumed he was afraid of the contact. But now that he's doing it, I'm guessing maybe he was just afraid to leave his man. And he's gotten the message that in that situation, you have to.
Clingan is big enough to run over Steven Adams. Reed standing in his way is almost like David and Goliath.
Reed should start with Tari and Amen. They all have the same aggressive energy and cover for each other's deficiencies. Better transition opportunities too.
Yup I think it's pretty obvious he would have to be healthy? Tari has never gotten to start, and has deep rooted habits an an energy player. Like Amen early in his second season, like Reed now, there's going to be an adjustment period where they manage their aggression more precisely.
If you start both KD and Reed nobody will score when those 2 sit down to rest. With Tari also out our only "shooters" are Jabari and DFS who have both been bricking it up.
You just lost Tari to injury and you want KD to play PF? So you want KD to be the next guy injured when Tari comes back?
Maybe. Like I said, I haven’t been a proponent of starting Reed, but with Tari’s injury, what the hell? Give it a try.
This is a legit concern. My initial thought is just to leave Reed in the game when KD goes out, then pull him when KD goes back in. I’d like to see if Reed can maintain his energy and defense level that long, as an experiment. If he flags, we make another sub and let Amen take over till KD is ready. Maybe Reed plays mostly spot-up with KD, then shifts more to PG when KD is out. Dunno. Probably one of y’all has a better idea.
I'm really not changing my opinion on Reed, his improvement from year to year has been amazing. It's only year 1 to 2, but the bag he has is great. I think he just needs the team to lean into him more at the same time...I'm not so sure the team is ready for that or Reed is ready for it, so I'm fine with the role he has on the team right now for this year... My question is though...when FVV comes back next season...what happens to Reed? I just cannot see Ime playing two small guards at the same time and with how much Ime plays FVV this takes Reed's minutes by... a lot.
I give Reed this season a b plus. I dont hate Reed, ithink he's the best shooter on our team. He's gotten better on defense with his instincts of getting his hands to deflect balls and come away with steals. We play so much switching on defense he often winds up guarding a bigger player and he looks lost sometimes in that aspect. He's going to have to take the initiative to improve a lot. When Portland was pressuring the ball he brought the ball up once. I think they had Amen bring the ball up or Jabari which in its own subject was horrible. Speaking of Jabari. We need him to shoot when the correct pass is made to him and move the ball a lot quicker to get our offense going. The Rockets have been having to work hard on offense. That 4 game win streak they just had, the ball was moving. The assist numbers were way up. I know they have bad shooting percentages the past 3 games though. Still like I ve ever told anyone I played ball with. The right shot is the right shot. Most of the time it comes off an assist. I want to see Reed be decisive when he's starting the offense. Handle the pressure and put in consistent effort on defense. Thats all can ever ask for from him. Im not worried about becoming a drat pick that blossomed into superstar. Im just waiting for him to become Reed Sheppard a contributing member of the Rockets.
I give Reed a B+/A- in his 2nd year. I think the improvement from yr1 to yr2 has been impressive. If he can improve at this rate in yr3 we have nothing to worry about. I’m excited to see what he can do 2nd half of the season. I’m concerned about Ime lack of willingness to play Reed more and/or stick with him in games. I think we need to be maximizing his experience so we can rely on him in the playoffs. We need him confident and seasoned as possible come playoff time.
scared to shoot... I don't know what it is with this kid passes up open shots to bad shooters I'm having a hard time defending Reed anymore. He has to want it. EIther that or coaching is telling him not to shoot?
