I've been browsing Youtube for Bluegrass covers all day. Here's a very limited selection. Not going to post everything I liked. Hope I'm not annoying anybody. I'm sure more than a few of you are thinking 'wtf?'.

Grateful Dead - kind of cheap since it's about 80% a bluegrass song to begin with.

    Same caveat as above.

This is more pure country, it's a cover of a Charley Pride song, but she changed it from a basic normal scale to some kind of weird semi-oriental scale that makes it sound much more mysterious and old-timey. I give it a special honorable mention.

I am not a musician, but I think that it wasn't difficult to do the Bluegrass interpretation..

The base - original had a different name. Blues and Bluegrass aren't the same, but still...

I am thinking more of a vibe from India or Westward to the Middle East rather than Oriental.

Yeah, I'm not real good with what they call "ethnic" scales.

You are way ahead of me on the Scales part.

I have been listening on Youtube and if I go too far Westward, they go heavy on percussion. I know that they like percussion on the Indian Subcontinent as well.

Not the best examples, but sort of in this direction. Assyrians don't consider themselves as Arabs
