No way in hell Cooper Flagg should be in the top 20 based on what he's actually shown on the court so far. Let alone at #8. What a joke. In the future, he'll probably pass a lot of these players, but he isn't there yet.

Sengun should be ahead of Jalen Williams.

Taking off the homer glasses, Amen at #6 might be a little generous given his drop in scoring efficiency so far this season. He has more potential than most of the players on this list though.

Evan Mobley should be in the 10-15 range, not at #7. His offensive game is limited and has already peaked.

    Wagner should be higher.

Both Amen and Sengun ahead of Mobley, Paolo, and Chet? No one here would want to admit it but that's huge love from the media. Only way it could be better is if they put Sengun over Jdub cause that top 3 is a different tier imo. Then Reed making it in is icing on the cake.

Suggs being on the list is interesting, to say the least!

It talks about what he needs to do to take the next step. Um, this is it. He turns 25 soon, and is 14ppg. There is no future on the list for him.

Players not on the list who score more than him:
    Shaedon Sharpe
    Trey Murphy
    Brandon Miller
    Jayden Ivey
    Jalen Green
    Cam Thomas
    Jabari Smith

    Worth considering (although early)
    Derik Queen

While scoring is not the only important trait, all those guys are at worst in the conversation as better. And most much younger. I don't understand the Suggslove

Most of the rankings make sense if you read the actual article that says this:

ESPN NBA insiders Tim Bontemps, Zach Kram, Bobby Marks, Kevin Pelton and Jeremy Woo set out to answer those questions, ranking the top 25 players under the age of 25 based on long-term potential.

My stats-only based ranking would be as follows.
    1. Victor Wembanyama
    2. Cade Cunningham
    3. Anthony Edwards
    4. Alperen Şengün
    5. Jalen Johnson
    6. Franz Wagner
    7. Scottie Barnes
    8. Paolo Banchero
    9. Evan Mobley
    10. Jalen Duren
    11. Jalen Williams
    12. LaMelo Ball
    13. Chet Holmgren
    14. Josh Giddey
    15. Amen Thompson
    16. Kon Knueppel
    17. Walker Kessler
    18. Jalen Suggs
    19. Keyonte George
    20. Cooper Flagg
    21. Stephon Castle
    22. Mark Williams
    23. Bennedict Mathurin
    24. Shaedon Sharpe
    25. Alex Sarr
If Green were healthy, I'd guess he'd be around the 15-20 range. But need more of a sample size from him this year to include him. I'd also expect some shifting around as the season goes on. For instance I expect Thompson to rebound from his relatively slow start and be closer to top 10.

Because it's based on projection, not past production.
