just rewatched S1 the other day When I first started watching it was hard to let go of Andy Whitfield's spartacus and the show continuing without him. Damn, was he a good spartacus. Ashur is a good character, will be interesting to watch
Early review are good? You prefer audience scores ? Bro it has a 5.9 on IMDB. That's an awful score by any metric
I watched the first episode. Don't really like the mulligan they gave Ashur but whatever, they're trying to keep the character alive. The show has the same feel so far, so that's positive.
So the finale aired. With the alternate reality, they aren't being pigeon-holed by historical events, leaving room for the story to take twists and surprises. Even so, I felt kinda underwhelmed by the finale. The gladiator characters are not very interesting. The DEI is kinda silly actually, lol. Ashur's plot is okay, but it's hard to live up to Batiatus's scheming. I liked Gabinius, he had depth that antagonized and supported Ashur as a foil, but his brother comes off as a very flat villanous caricature that's very uninteresting. I'll watch if it gets a season 2, but I wouldn't be upset if it didn't. Maybe I'll just rewatch the OG Spartacus.
