Rockets get mocked for worst ever schedule release video

I hated that video so much but this kid has already figured out something many of you haven't - that the only thing that matters in this day and age of the 'attention economy' is getting people to click to watch - even if it's to make fun of you or to make a complete ass of yourself. He is making more with that asinine video and the hour it took to pull it together than most of us on this board are making today in our job working far longer and harder.

It's tough to notice when the game changes, but it definitely has changed.

Feels like a bunch of old men who finally "get" this internet thing lol

 

Issue with the attention economy is that what gets you attention today doesn't get you attention in 3-6 months. Easy to get on the scene making an ass of yourself but you quickly fade into obscurity as well.

100% - but that's going to be his problem when he realizes the goofy schtick is very expendable and smarter people than him were using his lack of self respect and naivety to make themselves money that he will have a hard time leveraging into bigger opportunities in his career.

This is just an extension of the gig economy - yeah it will get you a little change in your pocket now, but is it worth the investment in time and resource to build yourself something of value long term? It's not like you are getting benefits or 401ks making tik toks.

 

This is one of those times where I'm reminded that humans have no natural predators...

 

Not sure which is worse. This or nails on a chalkboard.
