    Seems pretty clear the front office sees Arizona as very weak against lefthanders, so they stacked Gordon and (and likely Walter) against them, which is why they went with McCullers against Seattle.

    Yeah, said this in the Mariners thread when a certain poster complained about LMJ pitching instead of Framber. They aren't "weak" against LHP, but they aren't great against them like they are against RHP, who they have a .798 OPS against. Pretty clear they wanted to keep LMJ away from that matchup while stacking the deck with lefties against them.

    Yea and to be fair they aren't bad vs LHP with a .721 OPS

    But they lead all of MLB vs RHP with a .798

    We can definitely help put them on the fire sale list but this is a huge week for them

    After the 3 with us they get 3 @ Pitt to end the week. At just 4.5 games out of a playoff spot, a 5-1 week would possibly put the brakes on them selling assets. They are one of the teams listening right now but undecided on what to do. Let's kick their ass into selling

    Only downside to that is I think Suarez ends up on the Yankees or Mariners if they sell.

    They have some pieces that could help us also though. Merrill Kelly is a guy who is successful just knowing how to pitch. Gallen is a guy who has some legit upside though if our guys could tap back into it

    Get the two GM's in the same room while we are out there . . . see if something interesting can happen face to face. Would be hilarious if we ended up with Suarez cause Brown is working it behind the scenes and in person. Imagine the Yankee Fans . . .

    Also Lance has historically pitched like dog-**** in Arizona (was more of a head-case in years past... anybody else remember the "roof" game?)... whereas he was slightly better in Seattle/sea-level environments.

    Arizona is the closest venue to a launch pad outside of Colorado... but at least they didn't go nuts with their dimensions to compound the situation.
