Sure, but there are plenty of countries out there that adopt socialist policies that dont crossover into communism that are doing just fine. Nordic countries for one and other countries in Europe as examples. I could understand how this phrase would stoke fears. But again, its just a phrase he said at a youth socialist event from 2021. If you really wanted to get an honest idea of his political views now, youd look at his policies now. He's firmly a democratic socialist.
