Difference in this series is the Seattle star OF shows the world he can be an explosive offensive player in a big series and the Astros star OF shows the world he can get explosive diarrhea in a big series.
You can win games his way. Just not all his choices are optimal. There is a movie from back in the day, that is probably horrible by today's standards, but reminds me of Dusty, Days of Thunder. There is a seen in the movie that Robert Duval's character tells Tom Cruise's character the following: "I'll tell you what, you run 50 laps any way you like, then 50 laps like I want you to. Give me an honest run. If you do, I'm gonna beat you." If Dusty just managed his way outside of how he plays (or doesn't play) Diaz, Chas, and Meyers (and by extension, how he plays Dubon, Maldy, Julks, and Singleton), the Astros would be in much better shape. Dusty appears to have a real talent for gaining the players trust. He just doesn't use that capital to make tough decisions (if he was instructed to carryout those decisions). And, yes, Dusty is Tom Cruise in my metaphor.
This is what I've been implying that Dusty is more concerned with being right then doing the logical thing to help win more games. If he really, authentically cared about winning he'd lay his pride down. It's been infuriating to watch the Astros underachieve as the year goes along under his leadership.
