Garuba is 6'8" and around 230, but he has more length than he's typically given credit for due to his wingspan. It's between 7'2" and 7'3". I've seen both several times in the media. The Athletic has him at 7'2". He's an underrated passer and a good rebounder. I'm really encouraged with how his 3 has developed. The kid already has terrific defensive chops, and will keep improving there, in my opinion, as he continues to adapt to the NBA.

Real Madrid, one of Europe's top pro teams, invested a lot of time developing him. He was with them for 3 years, played in nearly 90 games with their top team as a teenager, and he played for Spain in the Olympics. Clearly, they saw something there. We're lucky to have Usman, in my opinion. I expect the kid to level up next season and make an impact. We'll see.

Being 6'8" doesn't completely bother me, he does have go-go-gadget arms and elite quickness to guard anyone on the floor so that's the trade-off. I do wonder how he would look in a situation where the coaching staff wasn't trying to lose... where they embraced a switching defense that didn't mind him getting called to the perimeter because he would eat a lot of guards alive. I'm thinking of a 5 man lineup that goes something like Green-Tate-Eason-Smith-Garuba. I feel like that 5 can switch any pick and put the brakes on. They would just need to prove they can shoot well enough to hold spacing for Green to drive lol
