    Like the poster said below, if into the spider verse was written poorly then it would be blamed on a black spiderman character and the studio going "woke".

    I remember when The Dark Tower movie was announced and Idris Elba was announced as Roland. I was aggravated. Roland was white in the books. I wondered how they were going to pull this off. My problem was in the books there was a ton of tension between the black woman Detta/Susannah and white guy Roland. Guess what? Detta/Susannah wasn't in the movie. They only made one movie out of a large series of books so it would have been way to convoluted to include her. In the end it didn't matter what race "The Gunslinger" was in the movie. It no longered bothered me. Just like it doesn't matter what race Velma is because her "whiteness" has no bearing on the original show.

    I am not going to watch it. It sounds like a terrible show (and that is not caused by the race of any of the characters)

    That video is a pretty fair take on the show. The basic concept had potential, but the execution is just flat out terrible.

    I was looking at top 10 models of both men and women from Palestine/ Israel where Jesus lived for context and honestly they look tan with what many might consider as white characteristics- exactly how he is often portrayed interestingly so while the drawings or images we typically see may not be accurate it's also not far fetched
