If they’re shooting them down without knowing what they are that could be a concern. What if there is an innocent explanation for them? Such as they are part of an scientific research project. There could be other potential things that could go wrong just shooting first without trying to learn more.

Also Apparently these things might be more common that thought but it’s only recently that US air defense has been paying more attention to them because of the recent balloon
Incident. If so then just shooting them down now is about alarmism then it is any strategic value.

At the moment though we don’t know anything more than they they aren’t clearly identified and are being shot down.

I wonder what the response would be if this were Trump.

Probably same response as when he ordered the lunch of a bunch of tomahawk missiles into Syria.

When it comes to national security and sensitive issues like this the deep state at the NSA make the recommendations aka decisions and everyone follows it as an establishment. Trump's response would've been the same.

This is psychology warfare. The public doesn't have the right to know classified issues. You dont think America is flying the same **** over China? Cmon. This is modern cold war with modern tech .

Talking about the real spy balloon? Maybe with a 10m pole. I haven't seen any argument for shooting it down immediately that is worth engaging.

Are you suggesting not to shoot them down? Earlier in the thread you were complaining they weren't shot down soon enough.

We will find out in 80 years. That is if we are still around as a species.

Because our fearless leader explicitly reassured us that it wasn't extra terrestrial.

Half would confirm the insanity bias.
The other half would continue to live in denial.
