I donated 50 bucks to CF, didn't get a lords and peasants moniker, and there was no customer service to fix the issue. Just overall poor experience with the lords and peasant system.

It's just a b-school way of talking. It's a "tax" on the system in that the value delivered more App Maker X to Customer Y has got a 30% deadweight loss built into by having to pay a third party, Apple, for letting them transact. App Maker X could offer a much better deal if Apple wasn't taking so much money.

Now, of course, it's not really deadweight loss because Apple does itself create value by making good hardware and keeping it secure, and by providing the marketplace in which buyers and sellers can find each other. By that same token, actual taxes charged by our actual governments are also not deadweight loss because they create value by building infrastructure and legal order and maintaining an economy in which buyers and sellers can find each other. That doesn't keep people from b****ing about taxes though.

 

If they started doing some moderation and stopped all of these alt accounts and Trolls I would have no problem contributing but if the powers that be don't care, well?
