There is plenty of reserve power at the moment.

 

If there's gonna be any shortages soon, it'll be due to high winds and tree limbs. It's picking up down here in Pasadena.

 

I left the Doublehorn Ranch around 11am, once the wind started hitting, by the time I made it 6 miles to the highway back to Marble Falls the temp had dropped from 54 to 42, now it's 25.

Welp... we're down to around 12 degrees now ... won't see above freezing until Saturday, if we're lucky - if not, then Sunday. My attic temperature, where the geniuses decided to put the hot water heater, is currently about 26 degrees. During the 2021 Texas disaster, I think my attic got down to around 14-17 degrees or something, but the outside temp back then got down to -1, so we won't be seeing that, hopefully. I just want the pipes to survive.

 

FYI, having the heater going and opening up the attic door can help heat up the pipes depending on your setup.

13 degrees now, too cold to go outside for a cigar and a cocktail.

Reading up on it, sounds like tonight could be rough as far as power generation. Some gas has frozen, and tonight the wind will die down and obviously solar will be a nonfactor. So we'll see how that goes.

It helps to be built for it. They're not draining pipes, shutting off water, etc. in places that routinely get this cold.
