The only way it would make sense is if Maldy decided to retire. But he doesn't have any reason for that.

It's been a boring day. Fire someone, Mr. Crane!

Yuli and Brantley have to be back (for the right price). It's the most 'amazing' club house and that's because of those 2 and Tuve.

Are there other teams willing to give Brantley big bucks when he's not ready to go as of now?

I would like Brantley back but Yuli just doesn't make sense as much as I appreciate him and all he's dome for the Astros.

I hope hectetires and takes a job in the organization as roving hitting/1B fielding coach and/or in charge of Cuba recruiting.

But over 162 games I just think age has caught up and his spit is the opening to improve the lineup.

He needed to get another bat at the deadline, but that’s not a good reason to fire him. What if Crane had fired Luhnow after his first screwup, which were several?

People need to stop thinking this was just a last few months sort of thing.

3 years is an eternity to evaluate somebody’s performance and know exactly whether or not they possibly have another gear.

He was told to get another bat at the beginning of the season. He thought he was going to get a better deal at the deadline. Not only did he not get a bat, he almost got bent over for a rental catcher.

You can't buy post season experience and he has 31 games and a .250 average under his belt. And against the Yanks and Phillies he was 3/10 with 3 RBIs. He had one crazy year with 23 HRs and 72 RBIs in 2019 but you don't get a guy like him for HRs. He helps win games. If he split time with Maldy I would welcome that scenario.

I would be fine with him as a catcher, even as the starting catcher.

But talk of him playing 1B or DH is ridiculous

In his defense, Vasquez was decent if he had gotten some PT. That is more on baker.
Also Mancini did well then got tangled in a slump.

Why not some time at DH?

Yep, I dont care about Javier or any Astros pitcher winning the Cy Young. I just want them at their best come playoff time like they were this yr.

Do they have anyone we would want?

I mean it was. I am not saying your stance is wrong but based on who we get or don't get why is that such a bad idea. I genuinely want to know your opinion.

I don’t know if they will carry through with it, but the Astros pitching coach and even some of the top researchers in the organization have pushed very hard for a 6 man rotation and there is a real chance it happens next year.

It was about 50 years ago (1973 I think) that the Dodgers went to a 5 man rotation and the league started doing the same. Hell, it wasn’t THAT long ago that top pitchers were going 220-240 innings. I believe Clemens one year almost went 290 innings.

If the Astros go to a 6 man staff, others will likely follow.

Did they see the 2nd no hitter in WS history. I'm thinking they probably think pretty highly of Vazquez too, particularly after seeing Vazquez get a big RBI single in game 6 of the WS.

There was a mlb prediction article I saw the other day suggesting Houston trades for Yandy Diaz. He's a 3b but they think he's better suited for 1b.

Do they shop Arozereno? Would Houston want him?
