    It's not technically "real" as in what the telescope literally captured.

    They get folks to color it in to approximate what one would see with their eyes.

    We have limited perception through these two squishy balls.

    This is an image from the Hubble of a volcano erupting on one of Jupiter's moons, Io. Imagine the images the Webb will take when it's aimed at the planets and their moons. What we are seeing now is only the beginning and the Webb will likely improve it's abilities over time. It's simply amazing.

    The JWT is gonna get pointed at some of the exoplanets that were discovered by the Kepler and TESS telescopes. Now THAT'S gonna be interesting.

    So basically, the first thing an alien species is going to think of us. Either. It's a planet with a giant eye. Kill it. Or Why is that planet looking at us all the time. We've got to do something about that peeper planet.

    Ha! She's awesome. Makes me kind of regret not getting into astronomy/astrophysics like I wanted to as a kid, but at the same time happy to see there are still people out there with that kind of outlook on the universe.
