Carl Paladino, a congressional candidate in New York endorsed by a member of House Republican leadership, said in a newly surfaced 2021 interview that Adolf Hitler was "the kind of leader we need today."

“I was thinking the other day about somebody had mentioned on the radio Adolf Hitler and how he aroused the crowds. And he would get up there screaming these epithets and these people were just — they were hypnotized by him,” Paladino said in a radio clip unearthed by the left-leaning group Media Matters for America. “I guess, I guess that’s the kind of leader we need today. We need somebody inspirational. We need somebody that is a doer, has been there and done it.”


It's the second time this week Paladino has sparked backlash. He came under scrutiny for a post he shared on his Facebook page claiming the mass shootings in Buffalo, New York, and Uvalde, Texas, were "false flag" operations.

It's always amusing to watch DD melt down. You would think someone so opinionated would take care of themselves personally but of course he's a hypocrite. Keep eating. Like a lot of these scumbag politicians we're better off without you

I think that any elected official participating and speaking at hate group rallies should be removed from office. Domestic terrorism is our biggest threat.

 

There was a time when doing such a thing would be so toxic that person would never get re-elected.

As well intentioned as you may be here, what you are asking for is fairly dangerous as well. So many lines have been crossed the last 4 years that have weakened our democracy. This action while may have short term benefits, long term it's something that can be turned around and abused very easily.
