UT Basketball

Bad times for fans of UT and Houston sports. I guess I’d be mad if I expected us to win this game at any point.

 

Business as usual for UT hoops, we got conned into thinking this year might be different, but....

 

Good god. How do you even recruit athletes to that shitty ass sand city? Coach deserves to be in the basketball hall of fame for just winning a round.

 

You know we are going to have at least two players drafted in the nba

none of them ever get the ball enough

 

Well if Shaka gets canned, he will leave there with alot of UT's money, which they have plenty of, but I never thought his style of offense was impressive. He rode the coattails of his "Havoc" defense from VCU into UT but I've always hoped they would get another coach when I saw his style of offense. Really a pity too, b/c UT has the best resources and can recruit at a high level, but their coaching choices leave me puzzled. I also thought Barnes style of offense was really unimaginative when he was there too.

I miss the days of watching Kris Clack and Luke Axtell, those were fun teams.

 

Best thing about Abilene is Buffalo Gap, Perrini Ranch Steakhouse, and there's a few solid museums in town if you're so inclined (Swenson House, the Grace, et al) and you spend the night and go to NM or Colorado the next afternoon.

eta: Tech went to overtime in the national championship game with kids that wanted to play in ****ing Lubbock, which is one step above Midland in the rankings of Texas sh!thole cities.

 

What a bullshit call. Wow.

 

Hilarious and predictable outcome from the jump. Courtney Ramey playing as many minutes as he did was coaching malpractice and Shaka better apologize for ruining Jericho Sims' chance to shine in March. All of ACU's players looked like the most extreme versions of create-a-player video game options and they deserved the win.

The cupboard is bare and Shaka doesn't deserve a chance to restock it.

 

I absolutely hate Texas. Let me make that abundantly clear from the start. Having said that, it’s nice to see them on the receiving end of a soul crushing, season ending bad call. And that was a pretty bad call...

 

I went to UT so I’m biased. But, I just didn’t see much of a foul at the end of the game. Rarely do officials call a foul at that point in the game. However, I’m not with the officials. UT put themselves in the position to lose the game in the final seconds because they played poorly the entire game.

Is there another school that underachieves more on the field and on the court than UT? Frustrating.

 

Ya'll are in some rarified air there, that's for sure.

I'm still ****ing furious, but it's UT's fault for even being in that position.

 

Just a weird situation with UT basketball.

I don’t get it.

UT had as much talent as anyone in the nation. They underachieved in the regular season somewhat but still had a high seed... yet lost to a team they had no business losing to and oddly it wasn’t a major shock to me.

Smart had a combo of veteran and younger players, he had depth and size. Really puzzling to me they didn’t play better as a group. I know there were chemistry issues, the guards had fought and Brown could be a selfish POS at times.

Does UT let Smart go? Are they just happy somewhat and he stays because football is priority one.

 

He's just not a very good coach: no adjustments, no cohesive offensive system, refuses to recruit consistent shooters, etc....

I'm sick of it, and he was on the hot seat before this season, they'll be in rebuilding mode next year and playing in their new arena in '23 and I'm hoping he's not part of it.

eta: he had great success at VCU playing his "Havok" system of pressing, trapping up and down fast paced ball, and he completely changed his coaching style the minute he stepped on campus at UT. I've always found that strange. They don't even run that style in short stretches.
