    You are so smart. Yet how do you fall for this? That letter obviously came from some right-winger trying to make trouble. No one on the left thinks christmas lights displays are divisive.

    Thanks but it's actually Hanukkah for me. Exactly why saying "Happy Holidays" makes things a lot easier instead of just assuming everyone is Christian.

    I don't get offended when people say happy holidays just because I don't celebrate their holidays. Wishing you merriment and happiness regardless of you celebrating. Merry Christmas doesn't mean you are Christian or I am assuming it. It's just called being polite. People making an issue of it when they don't need to is actually a hostility imo because it's doing the same thing as before, just you removed the word Christmas and make a stink when people say the name of their holiday. I don't accept this Christmas shaming because it is unwarranted.

    Happy Hanukkah though indeed for you. And I hope you have a Merry Christmas anyways... referring to the day and you having a nice one.

    It's funny how people react actually, because when I'm in other cultural circles I don't take offense to being wished happiness on their holidays. Maybe I am just stupid and I don't see the offense I should be taking.

    I don't take offense to it. Just think it's asinine for anyone to think there's actually a "war on Christmas". Everywhere you go. Every store. Every restaurant. Every street you drive on...there's Christmas. My children are 1/2 Jewish and 1/2 Christian. We celebrate both. Even after my divorce, I put up a tree and lights outside. Getting offended by the saying would just be a waste of my bandwidth. I can only care about so much and that is at or near the bottom of the list. The people that whine about this non-existent war are just as bad as the people who make it one.
