Legend of Korra is pretty good too. It's just the style and tone that it didn't fit the expectation of a true sequel and made people salty as a result of it.
Legends of Korra is fantastic. For folks into the lore. After the animated show ended, the writers continued to publish more books. The Promise (2013), The Rift (2015), there are several others. The hardcover are these very large beautifully illustrated books. Dialogue capture the essence of the characters from the show.
Finished Cursed - King Arthur universe - kinda meh, expensive production; visual effects. Umbrella Academy (Netflix - season 2 - *recommend: high) Hannah (Amazon - season 1 & 2 - * recommend: above average) Upcoming: The Boys (season 2)
I liked the Alienist both seasons I think I liked season 1 better because they had more of a team dynamics and a look at history of forensics. I liked the plot season 2 but to many subplots and some characters I liked got sidelined. Dakota was very 1 note but it seems that was very much in character. This season looked like preview for Dakota to get a spin off about her detective agency, could be up for that.
I was hesitant at the first episode and after the last episode it actually rivals Breaking Bad for best thing I've watched. The final episode(s) was just masterclass.
Yeah, I agreed with your spoilered comment about the ending of Perry Mason, but overall, I really enjoyed it. Good news on that front. Perry Mason has been renewed for a second season on HBO. There are certain things they're going to have to work out that I can't mention unless I put a spoiler around it. Spoiler Like how are they going to use Paul Drake as Mason's PI? The actor who plays him is fantastic, in my opinion, but racial prejudice in early 1930's America makes today's racism look like a cakewalk in comparison. I'm looking forward to seeing how they use his character. I don't doubt that they'll figure it out. Mason is just starting out as an attorney and many of his cases will get focused on the very large seedy side of LA, I'm guessing. We'll see!)
Thinking a second season will be better without so much of the character building. The trial scenes were well done. Spoiler Didn’t care for how they spent on the PI part, E.B Jonathan, the church, Drake, etc...just to have a 2 minute transition from being a bummed out PI to a full fledged attorney on a high profile murder case. I understand him studying for the bar isn’t good tv either but thought they could’ve fleshed this out better.
I loved the trial scenes. Totally agree about next season. Have to say that I'm a sucker for criminal investigations, PI's doing their thing, Attorney's preparing for trial, gathering evidence, interviewing people. Leading to the payoff . . . the courtroom battle. Love that stuff.
Finished up the last season of 13 Reasons Why. I guess i'm getting old. High school kids cussing out adults bothered me.
