Mike Tyson to face Roy Jones Jr. in September exhibition match https://www.espn.com/boxing/story/_...-face-roy-jones-jr-september-exhibition-match
This is an actual dream match and both guys can still go. Roy if I'm not mistaken is not technically retired. I'm going to pay whatever they ask to watch this fight. Plus this would be a good card to put a spectacular under card to showcase guys to a mainstream audience. I'm getting excited!!!!
im a massive boxing fan but i have zero interest in watching a pair of 50yr olds box. i get that were'all still drawn to mike, but paying for something like this is beyond dumb. i hope they wear headgear. lol nate robinson v jake paul on the undercard has been confirmed. 100% a freak show that almost makes the mayweather v mcgregor fight look legit in comparison.
being a boxing fan is just sad at the moment. you rarely see the best fight the best and now the biggest draws are freak shows like this one and the mcgregor fight. mike looked terrible during the tail end of his career and that was like 20yrs ago. as for roy, last i remember he was eating some big ko's. youre likely looking at a very boring decisions. ill probably catch a stream tho lol
I remember seeing Roy Jones Jr. fighting roosters in Louisiana back when it was cool and legal. Or was it? Or did I? I ain't no squealer.
They said this will be a show match for the fans and both won't go for a knockout or real decision, so please don't waste your money on this crap. Just a quick money grab.
All fights are money grabs. I'm still going to watch it. Mike vs Roy in hard sparring I'm predicting will still be pretty good. I was hoping they'd put it on dazn but I'll pay the $50
Roy was never truly retired his last pro fight was in 2018 -- since this is an exhibition I expect they will be extra juicy... Tyson has definitely been adding Test to his workout. They will be using big pillow gloves though.
Jones was unbeatable until he lost his speed... 49-1 with his only loss being a disqualification for hitting a boxer after already knocking him out. He probably should have retired in his early 30’s... jumped weight classes etc. One of the top boxers to ever live before hanging on for too long... never would accept he lost his hand speed in literally a 6 month span of time.... people can say what they want but that bout against Ruiz for the heavy weight title ruined him... he put on the weight, lost speed and struggled to fight at a lower weight again... he beat Ruiz’ ass though,
