I need someone to Explain JOJO's Bizarre adventures to me .. . because I tried starting from 1 . . .. but the story line and power sets seem totally different than the ones on Cartoon Network Rocket River
Not a JoJo stan (no pun intended) so I may get stuff wrong. JoJo is an anime that spans generations of the Jostar family. That's why the first episode is so different from what is airing on CN. "Stans" don't come into play until the 3rd series of the anime and second or third generation of the Jostar family.
OOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH Ok I was watching and wondering what happened to those STANs Rocket River
Was surprised that that Amazon had such a big selection of Anime. Currently watching Dororo and Blue Sub they have a good mix of new and old anime. Angel Cop is a riot, it's so bad.
Jo Jo is kind of a anthology at each season the main protagonist is a descendent of the 1st Jo Jo and in later seasons that does not seem to matter.
I probably will but the anthropomorphic animals are a little distracting. Finally caught up with MHA and I really dig it. Interested to see where it goes.
Heh, I was walking through a bamboo forest a couple of weeks ago and thinking to myself that it had a ninja scrolly type of vibe.
Wicked City looks....strange imagery in that trailer had me like “Wtf?” might watch due to that alone
American cartoons are almost exclusively comedies, or episodic shows aimed primarily at kids. It's not that we're bad at it, it's that we really don't even try to produce dramatic serialized animation. There is a ton of trash anime to wade through, but there are also few amazing shows every year. I can't think of many american cartoons that I would call truly amazing at anything other than comedy, which is where most or our animated resources go. If a story is amazing, it's usually live action because that's where the money is.
I'm saying the very best american cartoons are better than the very best anime. Cream of the crop type stuff. If I had a choice, I would probably pick an american cartoon to take to a deserted island. I have noticed the very best anime dip by the end, have unnecessary filler, or end with a "wtf am I watching?" moment. Batman the Animated series The Batman (different from BTAS) Superman the Animated Series Justice League and Justice League Unlimited Avatar The Last Air Bender Gargoyles Avengers EMH Xmen The Spectacular Spiderman Wolverine and the Xmen Sym-Bionic Titan Ducktales the 80's version Samurai Jack Ben 10 Had a couple seasons where it had some of the best stories and world building I would say these American cartoons are better than most Anime and I would consider better than the best Anime.
I would put GITS and Beebop several levels over all of them non eof the X men where any good and Avatar is the best. Most of those are middling at best IMO.
Were just gonna have to disagree on that. Almost all of those shows are comprised of 95% filler episodes so I'm not sure how that can bother you about anime. A weekly adventure that usually resets at the end. I enjoyed a lot of those shows, but they were produced primarily with 12 year olds as their target demo. My Hero Academia which is basically a pure shonen aimed at teenagers has far more emotional moments and character development than any american cartoon ever made. Avatar legit holds up with the best anime, probably top 5 all time, Samurai Jack was also great. BTAS was amazing, but it was an amazing Batman anthology with no character development. X-Men was amazing for its time, but watching it as an adult it did not hold up all that well. Most of the rest were just entertaining cartoons, nothing more. Never watched Ben 10 or Sym-Bionic.
