Instruments are being played No autotune No garage band app And you know the lyrics when you say hate it
Its bad, yes, but not the worst, you still have reggaeton, Lana Del Rey is worse than this, you have ton of music worse than this. for me this is not even in the top 20 of worst songs.
Even Grace Slick hated the song. I think sometime in the late 80s she woke up in a drug and booze fueled stupor in a puddle of her own vomit and realized the worst thing she did that decade was "We built this city".
I mean, it's great as a song in Rock of Ages, one of the most fun musicals I've seen. The music video is quite terrible, although that should not count towards its worth as a song. The song is generic. Take the sound of the 80s, strip away the kookiness of all the individual bands that comprised it, and mix everything into a gray paste, and that's this song. However, worst ever? Even just worst of the 80s? Nah. The magazines listed in its Wiki article writing it into worst song ever lists are just all trying to pick a common scapegoat and see who can whip it the most. Yawn. Those have all got to be dreadfully dull articles trying unsuccessfully to sound clever and knowledgeable. The song is average at best. It's great for situational play which is probably why it's so popular. It could be any city that's been built on rock and roll; it could even be yours if you play this song on the radio or at sporting events. But, it's certainly not "the worst."
We built CLUTCH CITY, we built CLUTCH CITY in Ninety Four, Built CLUTCH CITY, we built CLUTCH CITY in Ninety Four Say you don't want Horry, wanted Harold Minor in his place Say you don't believe in Sam Cassell, cause you don't like the face Knee deep in the playoffs, backs to walls we must fight Game 7, Olajuwon, made sure we celebrate tonight The NBA had no league pass, we listen to the radio, don't you remember We built CLUTCH CITY, we built CLUTCH CITY in Ninety Four @heypartner @rocketsjudoka @Reeko
To me, a great song is a song you can listen to hundreds of times and you still enjoy it. A terrible song is a song that often sounds ok the first time you hear it, but by the third time you hear it you want to rip your ears off.
Nope. Not the greatest and a little chessy but not the worse, same with people calling nickleback a terrible band. Most of them are just going with what they hear from others.
It is a pretty bad song - definitely a part of the corporate 80's blah generic AOR category. Boston, REO Speedwagon, Journey etc..I just hated that stuff. Heck I'd even put it on my top 10 worst songs ever list.. In no particular order: Sugar Sugar - The Archies Informer - Snow Rico Suave - Gerardo We Built This City - Starship I Can't Fight This Feeling Anymore - REO Speedwagon Macarena - Los Del Rio Seasons In The Sun - Terry Jacks More Than A Feeling - Boston Hangin' Tough - New Kids On The Block Achy Breaky Heart - Billy Ray Cyrus What's on your list?
Weird. I generally dislike 98% of pop music but like some of Lana Del Rey’s music. I thought it sounded at least a bit different and more unique than other pop stuff.
Holy Crap! I heard that one just four days ago on a Classic Rock station while driving. I had to pull over because I was laughing so hard.
