talking about it at this point doesn't really mean anything. he's here for the foreseeable future. we can cross 2022 and so on when it gets there

I don't think it will arise as late as 2022 if Harden does get disgruntled, and feels that Fertitta is driving the SS Rockets into an iceberg. Harden turns 31 the start of next season. He doesn't have that many years left that he can waste them on the Phoenix Suns, Gulf Coast edition. He'd be 34 if he waited until he was a FA to make a move. I doubt he has Lebron's doctor...

I think he pulls a Kawhi Leonard or some other snit, and forces his way out. Wouldn't you?

I wouldn't love it, but I'd understand it. Thing is, Fertitta may literally not have the money to extend payroll deep into the tax. I mean, I've never heard of an NBA owner doing some of the cost-cutting shenanigans we've seen with Fertitta. The Westbrook salary structuring being perhaps the most notorious.

    We'll see.

Well in theory, they're still competing for a 'chip when he did and does all of those things. Trade Capela just to dump $, and I don't think you can say that with a straight face anymore.

At that point, ownership's made it clear a championship isn't the greatest priority for them. If it is the greatest priority for James, ergo he needs to work for it on another team, more in line with his values. Further, he needs to do it quickly, while his skills are such that he can take a good team and make them a championship contender. Or he can wait it out like Karl Malone, and chase when he's comparatively old and busted.

James Harden plays through pain, and busts it most nights. The man doesn't strike me as a b****, and not likely to do a b**** move like Leonard's holdout. But neither does he strike me as a chump.

Absolutely. Get something like RoCo and Timelord back for Capela and Nene, and I think that's a savvy move. I'm more thinking of a hypothetical Capela + Nene + a 2nd for some 15 million dollar expiring this year, who would be unlikely to resign in Houston. I.e., a pure dump.

It may be that Capela stays. It's probably likely. I don't remember Morey moves that came with this much pre-trade chatter and leaks. I wonder if Fertitta is 'helping' in some way?

Both are no doubt top tier trash, but if this deadline goes as poorly as I expect it to, he's officially passed the McNairs. Something I never thought possible.

I think the McNairs are guilty of being overly loyal and accepting of mediocrity due to being too scared of genuine failure. If they happened to accidentally stumble into a great coach/GM situation (one can dream), I think they would be great owners who would write checks and let them do their job.

Tilman's sorry ass was literally handed a title contender, and immediately set out to dismantle it by cutting corners. He will forever be an active hindrance to this franchise.

First time I looked into this guy, I never heard of him, I though oh crap this guy seems like he is pretending to have money. I looked at the stuff he owns and how the deal was structured and it just wasn't right. It seems like he just does a lot of buying with credits and bank loans. He does not have a lot of cash, it looks like a lot like funneling money from one place to another....

I still think he will not own the team for a long time and he will lose money on it. Either by selling it low or getting investigated for something illegal.

I have it on good information that Tillman has declared the windows remain open in order to lower stress on the HVAC system and save on heating & cooling costs. Nobody ever died from hypothermia in 58 degree weather

Tilman is not a team owner, Tilman is a team renter.

Didn't we dodge the tax last year already? Which would mean we would dodge the repeater tax for the next while?

Also, how come I don't hear about other teams desperately trying to get under the salary cap every year? I was listening to the Dunc'd on podcast and they had a running joke about how the Rockets owner does this, but I almost never hear of any other teams mentioned doing this to that extent. **** Tilman

The repeater cycle of fear reset with the swap of wb and cp3. That’s why this year is considered LTS the sequel
