Not only was it a wasted timeout...

but if you look at the play, it was pretty close to being a first down, the spot was TURRIBLE and if he was going to use a timeout he may as well have just challenged the play. I believe it gets overturned if you look back at it and if it doesn't you can still get in a new play and go for it.

Lol on the post game show both Cody and Clint were calling out billy and romeo for their play calling, mentioning how deshauns years could be wasted and how worried they are with the coaching staff moving forward, even said they can't bring back the same coaching staff next year, needs to be changes

I agree that BOB is a bad/dumbfounding coach at times, but I do think it could be worse. Unless Watson and/or Hop comes to me and tells me BOB has to go, then I plan to completely retool the defense including the coaches and extend 1 more opportunity.

Think how many flukey, ugly wins this team had this year -- (ex) we didn't beat Tampa -- Winston gifted us a victory.

So....throughout the season you called posters that wanted him fired haters and p*****s. By you saying you are on the fence, you refuse to take a definitive stand. Also, that implies you are OK with him being fired. Again, why are posters who came to the conclusion that he should be fired during or before the season haters and p*****s? They simply came to that conclusion a few months earlier than the vast majority of Texan fans and media.

Are people that now want him fired haters and p*****s?

There were some folks that had seen enough and were ready to see him gone after year 2. For me that was too quick. Four to five years though... think we've seen what we're going to see.

This may be sacrilege, but as it currently stands, I'd rather have Jerry than Cal. At least Jerry acts like he cares. With a good GM to keep him from meddling---because Jones isn't a good one himself---I like having an owner who holds people accountable. Took too long to dump Garrett, but it's not like the Texans have room to talk there.

Maybe I'm wrong about Cal? There isn't much evidence to work with.

I want to say, "Let's see how the offseason plays out," but it's going to be the same old Texans: use RAC as the scapegoat, appoint a figurehead GM, give BoB 'one more year to make it work with our great talented team', and BoB will make moves to try to win now at the expense of the next few years. I have zero hope that anything will change. I don't even think they win the division next year.

In addition to optionally extending Tunsil and Watson, they need to pay right now: Hyde, Roby, Reader (He gone.), Fairbairn if they want to, J.Jo and Fells (ditto), plus others. Cole, Carter, and Rod Johnson are all some form of restricted free agents. They've a buttload of money...right this second. That won't last.

Sounds like a problem for a GM.

Can someone explain to me when it was ok to be past the line of scrimmage and make a pass
as long as one pinky toe is behind the line?

Honestly . . . that was a first for me .. . I was always told if the ball was past the line of scrimmage
it was an illegal forward pass
That TD was so crazy to me . .. .

The vast majority of posters that have been labeled haters or whatever by him were of the same opinion as yours.

Not to piss in your cheerios...:D

3 of the 4 remaining head coaches have Texans ties.

    Kyle Shanahan (49ers HC)
    • Shanahan spent four seasons (2006-09) with the Houston Texans, including the final two as the team’s offensive coordinator. In 2009, he worked with QB Matt Schaub, who registered career highs in completions (396), completion percentage (67.9), passing yards (4,770), touchdowns (29) and passer rating (98.6). His completions and passing yard totals led the NFL that season. Additionally, WR Andre Johnson led the NFL in receiving yards in both 2008 (1,575) and 2009 (1,569) and led the NFL with 115 receptions in 2008. TE Owen Daniels registered career highs in both receptions (70) and receiving yards (862) with Houston in 2008. Shanahan spent his first season with Houston (2006) as the team’s wide receivers coach and moved to coach the quarterbacks in 2007 prior to his promotion to offensive coordinator in 2008.
    Robert Saleh (49ers DC)
    • Saleh spent six seasons with the Houston Texans, serving as a coaching intern (2005), defensive assistant (2006-08) and assistant linebackers coach (2009-10). In Houston, Saleh oversaw the growth of the Texans linebackers, including AP Defensive Rookie of the Year performances by DeMeco Ryans (2006) and Brian Cushing (2009). In 2009, the Pro Bowl duo of Ryans and Cushing were the only teammates to both rank among the league’s top 10 tacklers, according to Gamebook Statistics. Saleh joined the Texans after three seasons working in the collegiate ranks.
    Richard Hightower (49ers ST)
    John Benton (49ers OL)
    Johnny Holland (49ers OLBs)
    DeMeco Ryans (49ers ILBs)
    Wes Welker (49ers WRs)

    Matt LaFleur (Packers HC)
    • LaFleur’s first NFL coaching experience came with Houston as an offensive assistant in 2008-09, where he was part of a staff that helped the Texans rank in the top five in the league in total offense and passing offense in both of those seasons. In 2009, LaFleur assisted offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach Kyle Shanahan with the QBs as the Texans ranked No. 4 in the league in total offense (383.1 ypg), highlighted by a passing game that ranked No. 1 in the NFL (franchise-record average of 290.9 ypg) as QB Matt Schaub led the league and set single-season team records for passing yards (4,770) and completions (396). In 2008, LaFleur assisted wide receivers coach Larry Kirksey as Houston ranked No. 3 in the league in total offense (382.1 ypg) and No. 4 in passing offense (266.7 ypg), with WR Andre Johnson leading the NFL in receptions (team-record 115) and receiving yards (1,575).

    Jason Simmons (Packers DBs)

    Mike Vrabel (Titans HC)
    • Vrabel joined the Titans after four seasons with O’Brien at the Houston Texans, spending the first three seasons (2014-16) coaching linebackers and one year (2017) as the team’s defensive coordinator. During his time in Houston, the Texans built one of the top defenses in the NFL and experienced tremendous success as a team, earning division titles in 2015 and 2016.
    • In 2017, Vrabel’s first year as a defensive coordinator, the Texans finished the campaign with 19 players on injured reserve. Despite the setbacks, he led the defense to the fifth-best third-down percentage in the NFL and a franchise-record 3.97 yards per carry by opponents. Houston also had 18 different players record at least half a sack and 26 players tally at least one tackle for loss.
    • As the Texans linebackers coach from 2014-16, Vrabel helped mold several top-notch performers within his position group, including Jadeveon Clowney, Whitney Mercilus, Benardrick McKinney and Brian Cushing. During those three seasons, the Texans defense ranked third in the NFL in yards allowed per game (319.9) and net passing yards (218.4). Houston also ranked first in third-down defense (33.6 percent), fourth in opponent completion percentage (59.5) and sixth in points allowed per game (19.8).
    • The 2016 Texans ranked number one in the NFL – for the first time in franchise history – in total defense, surrendering only 301.3 yards per game. The defense also gave up the fewest first downs (17.0) per game and second-fewest net passing yards (201.6) per game in the league. Clowney, Mercilus and McKinney all earned second-team All-Pro honors, while Clowney was named to the Pro Bowl for the first time in his career after posting personal bests with 52 tackles, six sacks, 16 tackles for loss and 17 quarterback hits. Mercilus led the team in sacks for the first time in his career with 7.5 quarterback takedowns and tied for the NFL lead with four defensive fumble recoveries. McKinney led the team with a career-high 129 tackles and became the second player in franchise history with over 100 tackles and five sacks in a season.
    • The 2015 Texans had the top third-down defense in the NFL, allowing a 28.5 percent conversion rate, which was the lowest percentage in franchise history and the lowest by any NFL team since the 2003 Titans (27.7 percent). The 2015 defense also set a franchise mark with 45 sacks – 22.5 of which came from Vrabel’s linebacking corps. The 2015 squad also finished third in the NFL in net yards (310.2) and net passing yards (210.4) allowed per game and tied for seventh in points allowed per game (19.6). Cushing’s 110 tackles led the linebacking corps and were the third-highest mark of his career. Mercilus enjoyed the best year of his career as he set a personal high with 12 sacks.
    Pat O'Hara (Titans QBs)
    • In his time with Houston, O’Hara was an offensive assistant and helped coach quarterbacks. In 2017, rookie quarterback Deshaun Watson completed 61.8 percent of his passes for 1,699 yards and 19 touchdowns in only seven games before suffering a season-ending injury. Watson set NFL records for most passing touchdowns (19) through a player’s first seven career games in NFL history and most passing touchdowns (18 in Weeks 3-8) by a rookie over any five-game span in NFL history. Watson recorded three games with four-or-more passing touchdowns, joining Fran Tarkenton (1961) as the only rookies in NFL history to do so. He also became the fifth quarterback and first rookie in NFL history to have a five-game stretch of at least 225 passing yards and at least 20 rushing yards.
    • The Texans won the AFC South in 2015 and 2016 with back-to-back 9-7 records. In 2015, Houston became the first NFL team since 1950 to earn a trip to the postseason with four different starting quarterbacks winning at least one regular season game.
    Shane Bowen (Titans OLBs)
    • Bowen joined the Titans after spending two seasons with the Houston Texans as a defensive assistant. In 2017, despite being beset by key injuries, the Texans ranked fifth in third-down defense and set a franchise record for fewest yards per carry by opponents (3.97). In 2016, he was part of a coaching staff that produced the NFL’s top-ranked defense (301.3 yards allowed per game) for the first time in franchise history. The 2016 squad, which also gave up the fewest first downs (17.0) and second-fewest net passing yards (201.6) per game, won the AFC South Division and advanced to the Divisional Playoff Round.
    Brian Bell (S&C assistant)
    • Prior to joining the Titans, Bell spent three seasons with the Houston Texans as assistant strength and conditioning coach. He was a member of back-to-back AFC South Division Championships in his first two campaigns in Houston.

Its kind of like the forward progress rule but in reverse. So you can still make a pass with your entire body across the line except for your pinky toe and be legal.
So the QB could leap forward 5yds or so from scrimmage and still make a pass.
