Eh, Trump is a little vague about which "number" he means. It isn't the biggest holiday retail sales growth number ever. But, it might be the biggest holiday retail sale gross, considering the growth hasn't been negative since 2009.
This appears to be the source of the 3/4% growth trump referred to: https://risnews.com/us-retail-sales-grew-holiday-season The retail growth was driven by e-commerce sales growth. Noting that MasterCard made sure to correct the president's inaccurate statement. And *if* he was meaning gross sales (which wouldn't make sense since he mentions 3.4%, holiday retail sales growth, and "the biggest number ever" all in the same sentence)... it would be as much of an accomplishment as him saying he was president of the largest number of years (2020) or the greatest number of Americans, since the years always get bigger and the population grows continually.
Is this the same as saying every five years we have the highest grossing movie ever?? because you know things like movie tickets get more expensive over time....
Even Nazi or Japs in WWII did not do what Trump had tweeted. That was straight war crime and terrorism.
Not to worry. Remember that time Trump threatened to “totally destroy” North Korea, which was before he and Kim Jong Un started writing each other love letters?
pompeii, when given the chance to answer (and say America doesn't target cultural sites), said this...
I find Pompeo's sudden interest in international rule of law very curious. The deep red base must know that Pompeo is just kidding. Things that we know for sure about Trump and his Admin: 1. They lie all of the time and can not be trusted. 2. Trump is not smart or competent. Those in his admin that were are long gone. 3. There is no well thought out master plan wrt Iran. 4. The killing of Soleimani in an election year is *not* a coincidence. 5. Trump has a casual disregard for the law, national or international.
I agree that is was not a coincidence. But in typical Trump fashion, as they're trying to inflate his ego, the rest of the country is saying, "Who?!?!"
First time opening this thread and after reading a couple of "tweets" two things happened: I got a headache and my IQ dropped into the single digits.
Point taken. But, I'd point out that Hitler ordered the destruction of the Eiffel Tower and other cultural landmarks in Paris before the retreat, but General von Cholitz would not comply. There was a lot of destruction of cultural sites in WWII from bombings, though more from callous disregard (and desperation) than intentional targeting. And of course the genocide they perpetrated is a different sort of cultural destruction (or perhaps more accurately, destroying cultural sites is a tool of genocide) that of course the Nazis employed to a much greater extent than Trump could even dream of -- even in defeat they permanently changed the demography and therefore the cultures of Eastern Europe.
I mean, we responded to an attack on our embassy (that was due to us killing 25 people because 1 was killed) that resulted in no significant injury or death with the bombing of an airport and killing 10 people. I think we are past proportionate anyway.
OK... our financial whiz-in-chief is asking how our 409K's are doing? Does he mean our cHevy 409? Or 409 Cleaner? Or our Trendnet KVM switches?
